I ran the beta before and installed the final version of iOS 14 today. DVD Profiler runs, with the same problems and limitations that were present in iOS 13.

If you scan the UPC there shouldn’t really be choices popping up. That does happen though if you search by name (e.g. if the UPC didn’t scan well or wasn’t found).

As for the app not finding the PC program: This is not automatic. Both computers must be on the same network. The PC’s IP address is shown at the bottom of the screen of DVD Profiler and you need to type that into the address field in the phone up (select Edit in the “Connect to DVD Profiler” section) of the Update Database dialog. It might help to forward the port to your PC, but most importantly they both must be on the same network.

You can connect to iPhone app to the computer app and synchronize the database. It's not instant, but you could scan a few profiles, then initiate a synchronization to get those newly added profiles into the computer. Synchronization is reasonably fast, as it will detect changes quickly and only transfer differences between the two locations.

TLDR:

Is there an easy way how I can SEE if a dvd is set to 0 or 1?

Is there an easy way to change it?

Set the Collection List to List View (can be done by right-clicking on the list and selecting “View As List” or using the shortcut CTRL+F1). Then right-click on the list again and select “View Columns” and then choose “Count As” from the pop-up list; thus will add a column with the chosen Count As value. Changing the value still requires you to open the Personalize window or use mediadogg’s suggestion for a bulk solution.

so you dont recommend downloading 2020-01 Update for Windows 10 Version 1909 for x64-based Systems (KB4497165)???

I don’t think that was the intent, it was only a heads up in case people found DVD Profiler not to work, so they would know the cause.

But also, this is about the May 2020 update 2004.

I didn't have to do anything, so I suppose it's off by default and requires being switched on, maybe...?

But still, great to know!

If it’s just 4four, you can do it manually in the Personalization. Right-click on the item and choose Personalize from the pop-up menu or use the lowest tab in the Edit window.

The Reassign Collection Numbers can possibly do this, but I feel it is intended for the whole collection. You could use it to remove gaps in the numbering or to adjust numbering based on purchase dates. Filling low-number gaps (76-79) with non-sequential items from high-numbers (422/433/444/456) is beyond the capabilities of this feature.

I occasionally buy DVDs for movies that are not available on Blu-ray, are more expensive than I am willing to spend on the particular item or if I already own more films of the series (might just be similar themed films) On DVD as well (to avoid the desire to upgrade the existing DVDs to Blu-rays ).

My experience so far has been, that updating profiles does indeed not change local parsing. So, accepting a profile with Max/Von/Sydow does not change my local Max//Von Sydow. Same has been true for capitalization. Max Von Sydow would appear to be a freak case.

However, if you have a profile with Max//Von Sydow in your collection and download another one with Max/Von/Sydow, then the second entry would be created; DVD Profiler is only blind to parsing during an update. Or as you said, you could have created the second one yourself accidentally.

I enter the port shown next to the IP in my iPad, but I never had to set up any port forwarding in my router. Are you setting up additional port forwarding...? The issue could be within those settings...?

Also at slightly over 20 years! Bought my first disc (Small Soldiers) at the end of 1998 or very early 1999.

Sure, I’d happily do another 20 years..\

For very basic data export to Excel and others, there used to be a very easy to use plugin called "CSV Export" which allowed exporting just user selected data fields. It unfortunately appears to be gone from the downloads section tho...
If someone still has a installer copy, IIRC tho quite old (ca 2009) it still worked with the current program.

Archive of original site, but DL link is dead:
CSV Export 1.4

I found one of Mark's posts, as he has the link in his signature. Here you go:
