If there is a chance to avoid scanning when I create a new profile, I check the sites of several video stores before. Not sure what you are looking for, but maybe this shop could help you finding a replacement:

https://www.laserdisken.dk

If not: PM me the EAN/UPC and title of the movie you need a cover for.... I am quite good in finding ;-)

I wonder how / where they get THEIR data?

Can you legally enforce rights management when you give away your data on a public facing web page?

The imdb - at least partially - is also done by users for free. If you see wrong or at least missing data in a profile there, you can create an accound and enter.

But for me it felt that there is nothing like a "community" behind like here, what means: There are users with more rights which could decline your corrections without any reason.

I think we all experience misspelling in here also! And there are countless of them in the imdb. An some obvious mistakes when they use an actor with a similar name to make him/her the one playing in the movie "credited as".

When the site started nearly 20 years ago it was quite small with a lot of enthusiastic poeple, but as the number of releases since then exploded, they had to find ways to get their data directly from studios. And as even the studios and/or media companies have misspellings in the credits, iMo the community here cares much more about erasing duplicates, combining name versions and correcting misspellings.

But no matter how good your eyes might be: Can they see the difference between 1.78:1 and 1.85:1? Between 2.35:1 and 2.40 :1? I am barely able to believe that!

What sense does it make to question the aspect ratio on the packaging when the image looks exactly as described?  It's just a waste of time.  Better to spend time doing something useful, like documenting all the uncredited cast.

Did you read the first post in the thread? It's a box set, 2 or 3 movies on each disc. And the cover for all says

Aspect Ratio: 2.35:1 / 1.75:1 / 1.78:1 / 1.33:1 depending on the prgoramm

So there are discs which have 1.33:1 + 2.00:1. the next 2.35:1 + 1.78:1
and that's the reason why I do this. If there is a lack of information on the cover and no booklet or something similiar with the set. Or how would you interprete the look of that description?

I suspect that there are a few people here who would disagree with that.

Not only that, but one more time I might need to say that we have rules on the site and they are not for nothing. What sence does it make to create a probably wrong profile if there are (technical) possibilities to do it the right way?

In the meantime I am done

@GSyren: AspectRatio worked fine, DVDPca didn't, but AAustria told me to use DVDShrink

This way I am through the whole set.

And: Analysing the ratio by eye actually impossible for me due to my new graphic adapter: Altough my monitor is 16:9, the adapter seems to think it is 4:3 and this way all ratios of movies look VERY confusing

I'll give both of them a try. The DVD-Box itself is really nice, but they saved time (and probably money) with the lack of information. One movie even isn't listed on the cover (but it has been on another disc also), no year or country of the movie is written anywhere except on the site of the DVD company and one movie is listed with a wrong title and this way a wrong year even on their site.

I am curious about their answer if it isn't an idea to create a booklet for the next release of this set :-)

Today I just recieved a nice DVD-Box "Enzyklopädie der Science Fiction Klassiker" with much too less detailed information.

The Cover says:
Aspect Ratio: 2.35:1 / 1.75:1 / 1.78:1 / 1.33:1
Audio DD 5.1 / 2.0

All depending on the "programm" they write, but with absolutely no forther information neighter on any of the discs nor in their menus.

I remember while voting for contribtuions that some of you credited a software they used at least for the ratio. Could anyone of you tell me a software to analyse audio and video? I'd prefer one program which could do both (to avoid installations I might not need another time) to get the profiles with correct data.

Thankx in advance for your support!

I did this several times for e. g. for "SD on BluRay" with 10 and more movies on one disc. For that I used "Freestyle CastCrew Edit" from DJ Doena.

I also use this tool if there is a season of a series with no child profiles (or sometimes with existing child profiles without data altough the parent profile has) and copy partially to each disc.

Especially in the last case "Freestyle CastCrew Edit" works better than BulkEdit as you only can choose to copy ALL c&c or NONE.... and deleting 22 of 26 episodes is an awful job

It's actually a little bit confusing: The profile of "Die Profis: Staffel 4" (5050582479386) hast cast & crew, the child profiles didn't have. So I "only" copied cast & crew for the episodes of every disc to the allready existing child profiles. The contributions were released and I got them today as updates. All worked quite fine - except Disc #4: Altough the contribution WITH cast & crew was released, the update I get from Invelos today is WITHOUT cast & crew

Could anybody check this?

That means first entering the crew member? That's something I never had the idea to try as I am used to create the divider first. Will try it tomorrow when I am on the next disc. Thankx, I hope that helps

As I didn't find any solution for the problem, I only can hope that someone else has solved the problem which kind of "complicates" my work editing empty profiles.

The situation is that: I am at entering crew for a TV-Series, have added a Episode-Divider, and quite often there are sections within each episodes, I need a sub-divider for a group (e. g. producers separated for different companies or song writers credited for each and every song). But whenever I add that group divider - no matter where I placed the cursor in the existing data - the divider is always ABOVE ALL EPISODES!

For the first one or two episodes it's not that problem to shift it down, but for me this seems to be unneccessary work if there is any "technical support" where I have to place the cursor that the group divider is at least in the last episode (the one I am actually writing data for).

Has anyone had the same problem before and found a solution? I'd appreciate that very much as I am on typing data for the next 20 discs, each with 5 - 6 episodes. And solving that problem could save up a load of time...

Thankx for support!
