Mark:

The problem was his first post, which was essentially putting words in my mouth, and worse yet for a post that did not involve him. Had he understood what i was saying from the outset, then i would have responded, his initial infuriated me and still does. Because all i did was offer a suggestion to another user, it was not intended for debate or discussion. It was simply friendly advice, which all could take or ignore as they wish, but then he butts in and inserts words into my mouth. I never once mentioned any thought of banning such references, as greenie to you or have a red on me. I said that I considered them to bad and with one exception, I have never used such a phrase and explained my view of it.

I think that James, engaged his keyboard before thinking about it, and wound up insulting ME, in doing so. Did he mean to do so, I have no idea, what I know is that he was discussing something that was not brought up by me and seemed to be attributing it to me. But then again, I am all for free speech and I oppose corporal punishment in any form. The choice i make on red arrow or green arrows and public thought are mine and mine alone, but that does not mean i can't share it of the benefit of those who might so choose. I am just shocked .

I just went back and re-read my post mark, and I don't see where you could have been confused in any way. Very clear.

I find your outrage at James amusing since I couldn't understand your point of view until he explained it here.

Hmm, same here. I didn't understand the meaning of the word "corollary" in this context, so rephrasing it helped me understand it better. This is probably because English is my third language.

As far as I can tell there was no ill intent in James' post, just a misinterpretion of what was written, at worst. We shouldn't automatically assume the worst (ill intent) of other posters, I think.

Ok, Taro, I gave you a greenie, in this case the corollary would be I gave you a red or something similar. And as I said in my view that should not be used as it is instigation, and in fact so is i gave a green, it seems to me to be asking others to also throw greens. A thumbs up or down, should be all that ie really necessary for Forum usage, if other users want to assume that means a green arrow, that's their choice.

Taro you have seen evidence of double standard from your viewpoint and I can see that, I have also eveidence of users throwing arrows en masse as I have explained. Do the public arrowrelated comments have anything to do with it, maybe. maybe not, but I don't think they are necessary, adding a thumbsup and saying I gave you a greenie, achieves what exactly, is not the thumbsup sign enough, it seems so to me. It seems to me that adding I gave you a greenie or a red is tantamount to asking others to do likewise. And I think that is wrong, I will NOT do it.

Like I said just a friendly piece of advice from me to you.

Skip,

cor·ol·lar·y  (kôr-lr, kr-)
n. pl. cor·ol·lar·ies
1. A proposition that follows with little or no proof required from one already proven.
2. A deduction or an inference.
3. A natural consequence or effect; a result.
adj.
Consequent; resultant.

No offense, but in your example it sounded more like "opposite" than "corollary", and I think it might confuse more than help.

It's funny that this thread is a fine example why this forum suck. So what makes it funny?

a) It was started by an Invelos owner
b) No comments from Invelos after the initial post
c) Yes, it has been moderated, ques who's post...
d) After +250 replies, 16 pages it has deserved a lock a long time ago. I mean, come on, people are arguing about greenies

No, it's funny that it's more obvious now than it has ever been is Ken won't change anything. I should have you listened to you old timers a while ago. Yeah, I think you're right. Broken promises aside, Ken and co. can't be bothered making customers happy once he gets his money.

Ken is  a goddamn genius. He gets paid, he gets his database built from volunteers, he gets free beta testers from volunteers and he gets free awesome plug ins from the volunteers...all of which makes him more money. Awesome.

However, when 91% of his forum begs for moderation, Invelos provides some weak ass statement with no intentions of following through on and instead of getting the promised moderation (or, for that matter, any communication), this thread turns into some retarded ass argument on green arrows.

If it wasn't so pathetic, it would be funny.

Good job, Invelos.

@ Kulju and Alien Redrum:
If it really is that bad, what are you doing here??

What can be seen in this thread is, that after a period of intense clash, there's a very careful attempt of several users to end these.
This is happening, as was to be expected, on neutral ground: A thread started by Invelos.

The most important lesson from this thread: Yes, we all are able to talk to each other in a civilized way.

This might be pathetic, but even this is needed from time to time.

So unless there isn't someone with a shotgun standing behind you, forcing you to read this thread, feel free to move to a thread you'd prefer to read.
If in fact there is a guy with a shotgun standing behind you ... give us a hint ... we'll call the cops

Of course there's nobody with a gun to my back. That's silly.

I'm here because I like a lot of the people here.

I'm here because I'm naive enough to believe that maybe one day Ken will care enough about this forum to do something about the good people that leave in anger, frustration or disgust. People whose opinions I respect and who've brought improvements to Ken's database either with limitless contributions or awesome plug-ins that we may not ever see again.

I'm here because this would seem to be the choice to go when you have questions or concerns about this program.

The fact that it's needed from time to time is pathetic in itself, IMO.

Sure.  We see that every time we go through this (probably about every 6 months).  No shock there.  Should last about a week.  Maybe two if we're lucky.  Then it will gradually go back to business as usual until someone else has had enough late summer / early fall.

Sorry, just calling it as I've seen it for the past 9 years.

I wish I could disagree, but I can't.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.
