| Posted: | | | | I have been trying to submit a contribution for the Don Rickles documentary /special Called Mr. Warmth ..
in the contribution 'now on file' is the name Robin Williams yob 1947 .. I have been trying to change the yob to 1951 for 'the Robin Williams' Not the singer guitar player Robin Williams from 1947 and every time I get yes votes and then the screeners turn around and reject it and put this in place for their denial:
Please use birth years only to distinguish between otherwise identical cast and crew. New birth year submissions must be documented.
I ALWAYS click o nthe box a the bottom of the screen to distinguish what it is i AM DOING .. ?? You know what? You can Keep the Invalid data in your data .. which doesn't really make 'the' data any more correct than say ... IMDB.. I will not be back to fix it a third time ..
It can sit like that in data .. thank you very much ! | | | In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. Now the World is weird and People take Prozac to make it Normal.

New birth year submissions must be documented. we are suppose to give detailed notes, how about the screeners giving detailed notes on declines. |

| Posted: | | | | But when the contribution is made the site specifically points out that a new birth year is being submitted and asks for documentation. To contribute this birthyear, a check box with the name and birthyear has to be checked. It is not possible to contribute a new birthyear without knowing that you have.
From a test contribution> The bold text is red on the contribution page. A check box appears in front of the name and birthyear and must be checked for the birthyear to be contributed.
"Birth Years
The contributed profile contains cast or crew entries with birth years that have not yet been accepted. Unless checked below, they will not be included in the submitted profile.
Submitted birth years must serve to distinguish between otherwise identical cast or crew members credited in this or another profile.
To include the birth years, select each below and include a supporting note in the Notes section above.
These birth years have not yet been determined as necessary and should not be submitted unless they are required to distinguish between two otherwise identical cast or crew. Submit these only if you have included specific information about both actors. If you're not sure, just leave these unchecked and submit your contribution.

| Posted: | | | | Exactly... if it was submitted the box must have been checked to do so. With this in mind I think the basic denial note is plenty. As Ken has said in the past...there is way to many contributions made to the database to be able to give out more detailed notes for the declines. | | | Pete |

| Posted: | | | | I never never never even touched or l even looked at the Landis part .. If that is the way it is in my data .. It must be wrong in Everyone's Data .. !
The contribution panel must be more precise in explaining and not just cut and paste in to all rejections .. | | | In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. Now the World is weird and People take Prozac to make it Normal.

| Posted: | | | | Birth years automatically spread to your entire collection. If a year gets added for one movie, then you try to submit a different profile with the same actor, it will submit the birth year. Long-time users can have a bunch hanging around from before strict standards were established. |

can you imagine even for a moment that I would remove or edit the yob for Landis.? I would have been flambayed and roasted by others for tinkering with the data .. | | | In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. Now the World is weird and People take Prozac to make it Normal.

No one is asking you to do anything like that. Just refrain from ticking the checkbox for submitting his birth year and all will be fine. | | | Last edited: by dee1959jay |

I think that is because the invalid BY had already been previously entered, and accepted, into the database. | | | Last edited: by Kathy |

The only check box-is in front of John Landis (1950), indicating that if you wanted to submit THAT particular cast member birth year you needed to check the box. And provide documentation for that birth year. "Birth Years The contributed profile contains cast or crew entries with birth years that have not yet been accepted. | Posted: | | | | Guess this just highlights that it would be a nice feature to be able to check to include/exclude each change individually. |
