| Posted: | | | | Is it possible for DVD Profiler to update the metadata on video files since it already has all the data about each file in the database? If not, is there a bridge program that might do this, i.e., reads DVD Profiler database or XML file?
I can't get iTunes on a Mac on a home network to correctly classify movie files (mp4) as movies (currently classifies as albums and music) that are on a NAS server. Thanks. |

| Posted: | | | | Video files I referred to are MP4 iles created from the DVD. Since DVD Profiler does a fantastic job of gathering data from the user and other sources, why not put that metadata as tags into the MP4 file?
Repeated use of a DVD often leads to scratches, cracks, loss, etc, while making a copy allows one to place it on your computer or a home server to bypass the need to keep swapping disks in and out. Our family members over time and repeated use tended to accidentally scratch our DVDs. |

Can you have Dolby Digital, DTS, HDMA, THD or Atmos audio in a MP4-container? What metadata do you want to put into the MP4-file, Features, Case Type and Disc ID? | | | Don't confuse while the film is playing with when the film is played. [Ken Cole, DVD Profiler Architect] |

It is certainly possible to add tags to a file using Microsoft programming methods, but if they are not standardized or recognized by other programs, it would seem to be a waste of time. It is already possible to associate a media file with movie and / or DVD metadata using My Links, or the LoadDVD plugin. That doesn't solve your iTunes problem, but it would be a start: (1) Export XML from DVDP - this gives a database containing the file paths of your media along with all profile metadata (2) Write a WSF or Visual Basic script to read the XML and generate the correct tag for iTunes. What is that tag, by the way? You probably already know about this: Mp3tag Editor ? (Edit: Oh I see now, that one is only for audio files. I think what you need is for video / movie files.) | | | Thanks for your support. Free Plugins available here. Advanced plugins available here. Hey, new product!!!
