| Posted: | | | | Yesterday I watched an episode of WIld Wild West that featured Thayer David. I didn't recognize him at first, but I did recognize his voice. I realized that I had seen him in Journey to the Center of the Earth. And so I though " I wonder if I have him in anything else?" Well, I did have a couple of other films, one of which is The Eiger Sanction. So I thought "I haven't seen that in a long time. It would be fun to rewatch it." After digging out the DVD and starting it I realized that it was non-anamorphic widescreen, and didn't look too good. And I decided there and then that it was time to get that movie on Blu-ray. And then those fateful words popped up in my brain again. " I wonder if I have any more important films in non-anamorphic that I should get on blu if they're available". So I fired up my trusty ProfilerQuery to find all non-anamorphic DVDs with an aspect ratio greater than 1.7:1. Yeah, I could have included 1.66:1, but I felt that 1.7 and greater was enough. And to my horror I got 363 hits. I looked at the titles, and found that a lot of them were quite recent releases, and I though "No effin' way that all those are non-anamorphic!" So I printed out a list of those titles and I began checking them, starting with my most recent purchases (purely because those were the easiest to find among my 6000+ titles). I checked the whole first page, and out of 51 titles, 28 were incorrect! And to my embarrassment I found that a couple of them were my own contributions. One thing that I realized when checking 51 titles was how much I hate forced messages, forced company logos and (thankfully quite few) forced trailers. This would have gone so much smoother if I had been able to get straight to the main menu. Anyway, in the future I'll try to not think " I wonder ..." because it brings me so much work. ![](/images/emoticons/sweating.gif) | | | My freeware tools for DVD Profiler users. Gunnar |

I say just do them, and I'll gladly double dip when he gets around to doing it 'right' | | | HDTV: 52" Toshiba Regza 52XV545U AVR: Onkyo TR-707 Speakers: Paradigm Monitor 7 v6, CC-190 & Atom Monitors Subwoofer: Definitive Technology ProSub 800 BD/DVD: Oppo BDP-93 (Region Free) HD PVR: Motorola DXC3400 500GB w/ 1TB Expander BD/DVD/Game: 250GB PS3 Slim DVD/Game: 250GB XBox 360 Elite Special Edition (Black) Game: Wii Remote: Logitech Harmony One w/ PS3 Adapter WHS: Acer H341 Windows Home Server |

I'm not double dipping for another DVD, even if anamorphic. I want them on blu eventually, and I'm not going to triple dip just because Cameron can't get his act together. | | | My freeware tools for DVD Profiler users. Gunnar |

| Posted: | | | | Usually Directors are not in charge of the creation of home video releases for their movies. Do you have information that this is a special case so that you both are blaming James Cameron for the delay? | | | Recently bought films:
The Matrix [Blu-ray] | Shirins Wedding [DVD] | The Graduate [Blu-ray] | Prometheus [Blu-ray 3D] | Hwal [DVD] |

Are you really asking if James Cameron is a special case?!?!?!? Really? He owns the box office record for the top 2 grossing movies of all time, which 20th Century Fox was involved with those films as well as the two in question. He is also making 3 Avatar sequels for the same studio, and you are really asking if he is a special case? There couldn't be a more special case. | | | HDTV: 52" Toshiba Regza 52XV545U AVR: Onkyo TR-707 Speakers: Paradigm Monitor 7 v6, CC-190 & Atom Monitors Subwoofer: Definitive Technology ProSub 800 BD/DVD: Oppo BDP-93 (Region Free) HD PVR: Motorola DXC3400 500GB w/ 1TB Expander BD/DVD/Game: 250GB PS3 Slim DVD/Game: 250GB XBox 360 Elite Special Edition (Black) Game: Wii Remote: Logitech Harmony One w/ PS3 Adapter WHS: Acer H341 Windows Home Server |
