| Posted: | | | | Is it possible to add a little stat somewhere saying how many collections a release is a part of? No identity info or anything, just an anonymous counter.
The primary reason for this is simply a motivational one. I formerly contributed a fair number of pre-release profiles for some smaller Australian distributors, and ones I didn't eventually purchase I kept in my wishlist simply to see how many got updated. They seldom did, like less than 10 were updated (e.g. proper cover scans) over the course of two years in which time I contributed about 300-400.
I eventually stopped contributing them. It seemed pointless as I couldn't see them getting used. Now I realise that probably the majority of users don't make contribution changes, so maybe there are people using them and I just don't know. Hence my feature request. If I can see that a couple of people are using the profiles I am happy to continue to contribute them. If not, then I really can't be bothered with the extra effort. |

I like this idea, to include a count of collectors per profile on the database. Unfortunetly I think the count would only work with those users who have synchronized their collection online with DVD-P. I'm not sure how many customers have actually shared their collection online. |

| Posted: | | | | I can't imagine it is that hard to have it server-side. Server should know when a user-client requests a profile.
It would not be particularly accurate, compared to say looking at online collections. But that as you say would probably be fairly limited. However, I don't need the stat to be particularly accurate or anything. It is simply a nice little thing to show that a profile is being requested and used.
Maybe instead of saying 'is in X user collections', it could be something like 'profile has been requested X times' or something. I would be surprised if they didn't keep stats for this sort of thing already, so it would just be making them public in a limited way. | | | Last edited: by partiallylit |
