| Posted: | | | | The rules defines "Multi-angle" as "Any multi-angle content (accessed via the Angle button on your remote)".
The question is whether this applies to the main feature only, or also to the bonus content.
There have already been two discussions about this topic, but they are old and I disagree with much of what is said: http://www.invelos.com/Forums.aspx?task=viewtopic&topicID=72493 http://www.invelos.com/Forums.aspx?task=viewtopic&topicID=160148
My view is that this applies only to the main feature. Like a live concert, where you can access separate angels for each artist. |

| Posted: | | | | I don't know the actual answer to this. To be honest don't think I have many releases with the feature. But I will say when this question came up about commentaries (where a lot are released with commentary on deleted scenes and such) we were told it was for the feature only. So I don't see why this would be any different.
But once again I seldomly see this feature in my collection... so there may be more to it then I know. | | | Pete |

| Posted: | | | | Most of the time when I see the multi-angle feature in the movie itself, it's used for alternate language credits/text, alternate/cleaned up special effects shots (think Beauty and the Beast, Star Trek: TOS or some Doctor Who episodes). In these cases it's more of a means to an end and I wouldn't even bother to tick the "multi-angle" box unless it's advertised (such as Star Trek).
Usually when it's used as alternate camera angles, storyboard comparisons, etc. it's as a special feature outside of the movie, and these account for about 90% of the titles that have "multi-angle" ticked in my collection. | | | My DVD/Blu-ray Collection My Letterboxd Page |

| Posted: | | | | you made me take a look at mine... my blu-ray remote does indeed have an angle button on it. But obviously not something I ever used. | | | Pete |

This is an old feature from the early days of DVDs. In fact, my Blu-ray remote doesn't even have an angle button. I've found that Blu-rays have trended towards more simple authoring/encoding. I've noticed many BD releases dropping extras like multi-angle features and galleries even though I'd imagine it'd be easier to program/use on the format. My Sony BD remotes still have the Angle button, but according to my database, I only have 20 BDs with the multi-angle feature. More than half of those are simply DVD extras ported over to the BDs. The newer titles are more features-heavy special editions (Fincher's The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo & The Social Network, the Transformers films, the Avatar collector's edition, etc). None of this is important, but I think it's an interesting observation on trends in the ways studios are streamlining extras these days. | | | My DVD/Blu-ray Collection My Letterboxd Page |

| Posted: | | | | Kind of like BD-Live. Used to be a big thing early on but now only two studios, to my knowledge but could be a couple more, still use it (Universal and Magnolia). |

| Posted: | | | | The checkbox is in the "Features" section, so if it's among the features, that certainly qualifies, IMHO. It's usually something where an actual scene is being compared with something else, like an (animated) storyboard sequence, pre-visual effects shots, or even actual different angles.
I don't own (or have ever seen) a single DVD or Blu-ray where the entire film can be watched using multiple angles, while I have dozens that feature some multi-angle bonus content. I'm not saying that discs where the entire film can be watched using multiple angles don't exist, but they certainly seem to be so rare that it would be strange if we had a checkbox just for that. | | | Last edited: by T!M |

| Posted: | | | | While I am not really disagreeing with you... the same can be said about commentaries. But yet we have times when a commentary is only on deleted scenes or a short or something... and then we were told it has to be commentary for the main feature only. | | | Pete |

I agree that "Commentary" should only be checked if it's available on the disc's main feature. But the rules on "Multi-Angle Content" say: Quote: Any multi-angle content (accessed via the Angle button on your remote) Note the word "Any" - that is the key here. The box should be checked if the disc contains any multi-angle content. That, to me, says that we check it for multi-angle content among the bonus material as well. | | | Last edited: by T!M |

While I agree with your opinion as such the quoted point surely needs some refinement, because it definitely is correct for "Closed Captioned" (Region 1 Only feature and even there going extinct), DVD-ROM Content, THX-Certified, etc too. | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up! | Posted: | | | | Perosnally, I do not list anything like this unless it applies to the main feature. While I do want to know what special features a set has, I don't want to know all the specifics of that special feature. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. If it's a multi-angle featurette or something accessed through a special features menu, you still need to access the alternate angles using the "Angle" button on your remote. The same is true of movies with multiple angles. They are angle-less until you use your remote to switch to the next angle. | | | My DVD/Blu-ray Collection My Letterboxd Page | | | Last edited: by Rizor |
