To close a child profile?
@Devion27: What exactly do you mean by "closing a child profile"? Yea, I had the same question. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. | Posted: | | | | I think we are having trouble figuring out what you are doing when you run into this problem. If i am viewing as a List and want to check for children i select a potential parent then click Ctrl-F12.
If a child is found i get a dialog box offering to add it to my database. The buttons i can select are Yes and No. If i click Yes the profile is added as a child but not opened.
At no point in this sequence is Remove from Collection an option, hindrance or required.
So what sequence of steps are you following to get to where you are having the problem? | | | Bad movie? You're soaking in it! |

| Posted: | | | | If I understand Devion27 correctly he wants to know how to collapse boxsets.
Answer: In the upper left corner of the parent profile you find a "-"-sign. Click on it and the child-profiles will now be hidden, the sign will turn to a "+". If you click on the "+" the boxset will expand again. | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up! But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

If you click on the "+" the boxset will expand again. That was the other interpretation I could think of, but since this is quite normal on how to handle lists in MS Windows, I didn't think Devion meant that. But it could. If so, whether the list of profiles is showing all child profiles or only parent profiles at start-up, can be set by the user. Change in Tools -> Display -> Auto-expand box sets the option to your liking/ Individual collapses/expands as Lewis_Prothero says. | | | Eric

| Posted: | | | | OK, so let me get this straight: You want to actually remove the children from the collection, have them gone for good with all their data?
Simple: Expand the box set using the + sign. Now select the first child and press the Space bar. Flag all child profiles that way.
Now select Collection -> Flagged -> Remove | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

| Posted: | | | | Or:
Is it that you want to keep the children in your collection but not associated with the parent?
In this case: Open the profile editor of the parent, look for the tab named "Boxset Content" and click on the "Delete"-button until all child profiles are gone. This action will in fact not delete the children, but simply move them as single-discs to the "Owned"-Tab of your collection list. | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up! If you delete any child profile you will NOT delete the parent profile, it remains in your database. Only the child is permanently removed, either step-by-step (as I wrote initially) or a bunch at the time (as DJ Doena wrote). Just be sure to select the child and not the parent profile... Two cautions: Before you begin, or perhaps experiment, I'd suggest you make a full back-up of your database. So, if you make mistakes, or in a few days or weeks regret all or some removals, you can restore what you had in a few clicks. Also, if you perhaps have data stored in a child profile that is not in the parent, you can copy that data to the parent (before you start the removal of course). Select first the child profile and via the menu DVD -> Copy, then select the parent and via the menu DVD -> Paste and select the items you want to keep. | | | Eric
