Splitting your collection into two databases?

I'd like to split my current ("default") database by moving all the discs from one particular genre into a separate database ("horror").

As far as I can see the only way I can do this is to make "horror" a copy of "default", and then remove all non-horror titles from it (and delete the horror titles from "default", so they don't appear in both).

Is there a way of quickly removing batches of titles (perhaps using flags)?

I have a very large collection, so deleting them one-by-one is going to be a real pain.

you could filter by genre, then flag the titles from that list, and then goto "Collection" "Flagged" "Remove From Collection" that should do it

You can also just select a single genre, flag them and then when you export you can select only those you have flagged.

There's a quicker way to make the 2nd database if the 2nd database will contain a subset of the 1st:

  • Flag the profiles you want to have in the 2nd database.

  • Backup your database. There's an option to backup only the flagged entries!

  • Then create a new database and restore from the backup you just made.
