| Posted: | | | | Hello everyone, hoping someone can answer any of the following questions below: Cloning a profile: I just bought a blue ray from the "black Friday" pile at Walmart. its called Percy Jackson. I looked at the UPC code and its not listed in the database, however i noticed that the "sticker" on the case is not listed but the original code on the art is. Is there any way that i can clone the profile but just change the UPC (still keep all the information) Numbers: im still having issues with the numbers listed on the profile. For example, If it says i have 696 DVD/Blue ray (Collection list), then why for "All/Owned) does it say 699 in total? i looked at all the movies that have the child profile and i change the collection number to None and the count to 0? not really understanding that. Export to excel: is there any way that i can export the title, and UPC code of the movies that i currently have to a excel format? i had to redo my collection several times in the past, and i really don't want to type every UPC by hand again. Just want it to be easier. no i don't have a bar code reader, but i was going to get one just for that sole reason. thanks everyone for reading and i await for your responses. |

| Posted: | | | | 1. At the best of my knowledge no, it is the same release since you don't have a different UPC on the back cover itself.
Sorry no idea for the other two... | | | Last edited: by Jimmy S |

| Posted: | | | | Numbers: Switch the collection list to "View As List" In the same menu, de-select "Nest Box Sets" Then right-click on the list header and select "View Columns" -> "Count As" Now you can sort by Count As and check if you have entered a "2" somewhere accidentally. Export to excel: There's a plugin called CSV export. CSV stands for "comma-seperated value" and is a plain text list that Excel can easily read. | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

Is there any way that i can clone the profile but just change the UPC (still keep all the information) In most cases the UPC under a different UPC sticker will match up with what is in the online database. The only times I've seen diferences in is in DVD/Blu-rays I bought that were former rentals. Sometimes the UPCs were teh same for standard releases but were missing features and/or digital copies. But in my experience the UPC on the cover matched up perfectly with new store bought discs. Quoting fcw_chairman: Quote:

To be honest, I'm not sure. I think you are on the right track though, there might be a few that are throwing your number off. I have a large collection and gave up long ago trying to get an exact number. Quoting fcw_chairman: Quote:

There is a plugin that you can download called CSVExport. Just click on the link, download it and install it. Afterwards you can export it to CSV, which you can open in excel, by going to Tools --> Export Profile Database to CSV.... It will prompt you to what fields and what profiles you want to export. Then choose the filename and location and then click Export and it will export it to a CSV file. Quoting fcw_chairman: Quote:

There is a plugin, CVSExport, that allows to export your data to a cvs file which can be read by excel. See in download/plugin section. in regards to the excel. YES!!! that is exactly what i needed. just in case if i ever needed to redo my collection i can just copy and paste the UPC codes now. Whew =)
in regards to the code, for the Percy Jackson and the Olympians, the original UPC (on the paper) is 024543-669111. However the sticker (covering the original UPC on sleeve) is 024543-846765. The 111 is listed in the database but not the 765. I thought by just changing the UPC code it would just update the database and it would see it as the same movie but just knows that there are two codes for it.
Also in regards to the numbers. Thanks yes, there were two movies that were in a collection that i forgot to remove the "count as" for them.
You guys rock. I gave everyone a positive rate for the help. |

You guys rock. I gave everyone a positive rate for the help. The Export is great to have, but don't forget to do a backup of your database, it's the best way to restore your collection. You'll find that depending on the release there may be quite a few releases with various UPCs. Some make sense but over the years I've seen plenty of discs that are apparently the same with the exception of the UPC, not sure why they decide to change them but the do. | | | HDTV: 52" Toshiba Regza 52XV545U AVR: Onkyo TR-707 Speakers: Paradigm Monitor 7 v6, CC-190 & Atom Monitors Subwoofer: Definitive Technology ProSub 800 BD/DVD: Oppo BDP-93 (Region Free) HD PVR: Motorola DXC3400 500GB w/ 1TB Expander BD/DVD/Game: 250GB PS3 Slim DVD/Game: 250GB XBox 360 Elite Special Edition (Black) Game: Wii Remote: Logitech Harmony One w/ PS3 Adapter WHS: Acer H341 Windows Home Server |

Plug-in was mentioned, but also there are other ways that should help in case of catastrophic loss, see Data Recoverycya, Mithi | | | Mithi's little XSLT tinkering - the power of XML --- DVD-Profiler Mini-Wiki |
