I seek wisdom...

At the moment, someone is looking to change the name of six Tom and Jerry Tales DVDs.  (All are separate DVDs, not part of a box set or anything).  In all cases the changes are of the same type, e.g. from “Tom and Jerry Tales: Volume 1” to “Tom and Jerry Tales: Volume One”.  (All the submissions are of the same type, to change the Volume from a numerical number to a word).

I had a quick look before voting (it seemed very straightforward), but then noticed that only Volume Two states the Volume number on the front cover of the sleeve; all the others just say “Tom and Jerry Tales” on their front covers.  However, all the spines say the Volume number (in words) as submitted. There’re no ‘standard’ credit blocks on any to refer to for this information; the Overviews generally don’t state the Volume number and where one does it uses a different format again.  (I haven't actually watched them yet, so I can't say what's used on-screen.)

If we follow the Rules, it would seem that five of the six should be submitted with the same title “Tom and Jerry Tales”.  This seems technically correct but not very helpful and leaves the set with inconsistent-looking titles too (due to Volume Two).

I want to vote yes, but feel this is totally at odds with what the Rules say.

Thoughts on the correct titles for these DVDs?

Thanks  -  Paul
Do you ever find yourself striving for perfection with an almost worthless attempt at it?  Guttermouth "Lemon Water".  Also, I include in my Profiler database VHS tapes, audio DVDs, audio books (digital, cassette and CD), video games (digital, DVD and CD) and 'enhanced' CDs with video tracks on them, as well as films and TV I've bought digitally.  So I'm an anarchist, deal with it.  Just be thankful I don't include most of my records and CDs etc in it too; don't think I haven't been tempted...

You can vote yes... it is fine per rules... volume information is the same as as season indicator... and if you check the rules...

Quote:
The title for a Box Set should be the title listed on the Front Cover; for example The Andy Griffith Show.  Season indicators, if listed on the cover, should be entered as part of the title, not the description.  e.g. Angel: The Complete First Season.

While the title of the series must come from the Front cover... the indicator (as I put in bold) do not have that same restriction... it just says if listed on the cover... the spine is part of the cover. There is times when the indicator isn't on the front cover... but is on the spine or the back. Which is why the rule was written the way it is.

Okay, excellent!  That makes sense now.

Thanks.
