Hi,

currently I have three contradictory contributions to vote on. Two change the dash to colon. One changes to colon to dash.

1)
Old: Die Simpsons - Der Film
New: Die Simpsons: Der Film
OT: The Simpsons Movie

Reason: Corrected title per rules.

2)
Old: Bad Boys - Harte Jungs
New: Bad Boys: Harte Jungs
OT: Bad Boys

Reason: Corrected title per rules.

3)
Old: Riddick: Chroniken eines Kriegers
New: Riddick - Chroniken eines Kriegers
OT: The Chronicles of Riddick

Reason: corrected title (first movie - no sequel)

Somehow all three changes feel arbitrary because the Simpsons has no sequel yet, so "Der Film" ("The Movie") is not an episode descriptor. Riddick is - in a sense - the sequel (Prequel? Haven't come around to watch either movie yet) to Pitch Black. And "Harte Jungs" ("Tough Guys") is a non-literal translation of Bad Boys and the sequel is simply called "Bad Boys 2".

How'd you vote?

IMHO wrong, because as you said: it's one of those german title-addition, not an episode descriptor. Although a small 'but' remains: what will happen if a second movie comes around and the title is "Die Simpsons - Der zweite Film"

Wrong, clear and with no regret.

This way around it is valid. As soon as there come another se/pre/whatever-quel with a title "Riddick - $anything" a switch (back) to episode descriptor should be done.

I was always in favor for using - if no sequel, or Music, ...
And I'm still in favor this.

It's just a seperator for the words. Which was treated as it is used to be in the country the contribution is for.
As far as I know many German users are in favor for the -

In the mentioned cases all got nothing to do with the original title, so no harm done to the whole community, so:

I think this rule should only apply in English. Other languages have different punctuation.

[...] because the Simpsons has no sequel yet, so "Der Film" ("The Movie") is not an episode descriptor.

On the other hand, there is the whole original TV series, that hast the exact same title (at least in Germany). This is hard to ignore, because the German cover and title strongly suggest, that the movie is basically a theatrically released episode of the TV series. The more literal translation of original title would have been "Der Simpsons-Film", but TCF chose not to use that one, but the exact series title.

I don't really see a reason to vote "No", because it seems arbitrary to ignore the TV series. The theatrical movie, hasn't more "value" or weight, than the television series.

The title change is wrong. But I'm bummed out that no one realized, that 'Bad Boys' is an exception from the "enter by EAN"-rule. The "updated" Disc ID (6A1C12212A41A32C) is the re-release titled "Collector's Edition", that unfortunatly got the same EAN as the original release. It contains completely other features and is therefore entered under it's Disc ID (profile I6A1C12212A41A32C.5). Updating the original release (long OOP) with the Disc ID of the re-release that has its own profile is a huge no-go.
