Grrrrrr. We have a user making making undocumented changes, personal preference changes and undocumented data removal changes. Es. A laugh track is unlisted and is therefore other regardless of language
It is not called language laugh track, just laugh track. Such changes are invalid.
He makes a totally undocumented by change, just making a claim on his own. In another case removing data saying I don't know nut...maybe he should review prior contribution notes as the rules require before removing data.

Because he wants to vote no and it requires a reason.

To put it simply according to this user's. Preference the disc has two English tracks with nothing to distinguish one from the other. When one is an ordinary English language track while the other is a laugh track, this user should maintain his preference locally and not weaken the data, by making it non-descriptive. Even tcfhe notes it as optional laugh track. Hopefully ken and his team will not approve this manipulation of already correct data. Reminds me of a user who once wanted to change a correct scifi /action/adventure and change it to sci-fi/adventure/comedy.because he wanted it that way

This thread once again reminds me a user who just cannot vote no and move on with his life. Maybe he's trying to break a record starting moronic threads. He already have a record with the amount of posts with as little useful content as possible, pretty similar as this reply.

The user is me. This isn't an accurate description of the issue.

On M*A*S*H, the audio is presented both as originally broadcast and without the laugh track. The first five season and the last disc of season eleven listed both as English audio tracks. Seasons six through ten and the first two discs of season eleven listed the track without the laughs (not the one with as claimed in the OP) as other.

Listing one track as other hardly conveys additional information. As noted, the fact that the laugh track is optional is listed under other features, so we do have that info. Listing as other is inconsistent. It makes it appear there's some language or type of track we don't have an option for, It's not like we normally list audio without a laugh track (i.e. most of them) as other. In other cases, where we have two versions of audio in the same language, we list them both as the main language of the dialogue.

Other examples include The Osbournes, where the audio is available with the swearing or with it bleeped out, both listed as English, Mad Max which has the original Australian English and the American dub both listed as English and the dozens of Blu-ray with two French or two Spanish dubs.

Calling something "other" gives no useful information and precedent was overwhelming against it, so I changed the second half of M*A*S*H to have two English tracks.

The truth is: The contributor has documented the changes. If you insist on bringing these types of topics to the forums please tell the truth.

So says Skip - his is the only "no" vote. The other voters do not agree.

I believe this sums up exactly how I view your bringing voting issues you don't agree with to the forums.

I don't think that there's anything wrong with bringing these issues to the forum per se, but they should be brought as questions, not complaints that someone is hijacking the database for their own preferences.

Right back at you Skip for, once again, calling out a community member in the forums because you don't like what they contributed.

As the doc asked - why don't you just vote "no" and add your rationale?

I agree that when one has questions or needs clarification then the forums is a place to get input - that wasn't the reason this thread was started.

I always check no votes. If you voted no and gave a reason that sounded good, I would withdraw or take it to the forums to get a consensus. Vague claims that I should know better or that I'm trying to force my personal preferences on the public DB don't really tell me what's wrong with my submission.

If I understand you correctly, there are two audio tracks for each episode, both English, with the only difference being one has a laugh track and the other doesn't.

If that is the case, and they are both selectable via the disc menu, the player's Audio Track selection button or Autoplay when the content is started, then they must be entered using the appropriate content type and format type.  Unless I am missing something, the content type would be English, not other because it is, well, english.

If, however, it was simply the laugh track, which is what the OP implied, then it would be 'other'.

I have explained it here ace. While other is not the best it I'd the correct choice. What you are doing is setting up two tracks of the same language which are undifferentiated. The difference being one is a laugh track, even called an optional laugh track by fox. You did the same sort of thing with castellano. And I won't even go into the things that were undocd, with your comment such as I font know it is this but I am changing it. That's just nonsense. Did itbrver occur to you yo read the previous contribution and seebifvan explanation can be found, the rules tell you to do judtvthat anrvyou might havevto go back intervocative notes. Nut you don't justbmake a change claiming you font know why it is but...
