| | Posted: | | | | If one looks in the CLT, there are 5 profiles for a cast member credited as "Elmer" 1941 (1979) Dick Tracy: 15 Episode Serial (1937) The Little Rascals (1994) The Painted Stallion (1937) The Small World of Sammy Lee (1963) Does anyone have any of these films, and can you tell me who Elmer is? This is important because I have a movie where a cast member is credited as Elmer. The movie is Trailing Double Trouble from 1940, and Elmer (full name Elmer Sneezeweed) is the name of the ventriloquist dummy. It seems possible that the Elmer in the two 1937 pictures could be the same dummy, but I don't know about the Elmer in the 3 later films. Now, Elmer Sneezeweed doesn't have a BY (being a dummy and all). However, if these other folks are different Elmers, someone (or someones) is going to need a BY. | | Posted: | | | | Well checking the internet by googling Elmer Sneezeweed. Brought up a few sites. He was Named Elmer Sneezeweed in the 1st film Max Terhune (Ventriloquist) did with Gene Autry (1936).
The Elmer from Dick tracy and The Painted Stallion is also know as Lou Fulton.
I have 1941 there is a dummy in the movie, but it doesn't look like the one from the 30's and 40's. But since the movie is suppose to take place in 1941, they may call him Elmer because Elmer Sneezeweed was a famous western sidekick at the time. But in the ending credits when they show scenes with the cast members it is credited as The Dummy but end of cast credits read just Elmer no mention of dummy.
The Little Rascals Elmer I think is the monkey. Don't have the film handy at the moment.
I would think Elmer Sneezeweed credited as Elmer would be the logical way to credit the dummy. But that wouldn't be in line with CLT results. | | | | Last edited: by ateo357 |

Wouldn't that be an ADR credit? I would think he did Elmer's voice during the take. back in the 30's did they do ADR or just multiple takes until they got it right. Maybe we should ask Skip since he was around |
