What is the proper way to submit a new / alternate UPC for a disc already in the data base??

It seems that every time I try my submitted UPC gets rejected?!?

I purchased the Blu-Ray "elf" from iNetVideo (English on one side of the cover / French on the flip side of the same cover) and the UPC one only different by the last four numbers of the current 'Canadian' release in the data base.

Current UPC: 065935822967
iNetVideo Purchase: 065935842606

And this is only the most recent event of UPC differences where due to "Added Extras" the UPC for the Best Buy disc might only be three numbers different than a Target and/or Amazon purchase of the same movie, and the Target package might come with a shrink wrapped /  attached "extra disc" but the "Main Package" has the same UPC on all three items and only the new UPC is attached to the shrink wrap.
Or when a disc is sold a a promo item such as the recent "Clash Of The Titans W/Movie Money" where the UPC on these packages were two digits off and in the case of the 3D version it did not have the DVD packaged with.

There is no proper way to submit an alternate UPC for a disc already in the system. You have to create a brand new profile and submit that.

If you have a dvd/blu-ray that has a different UPC, even if it's only by the last three digits, you can't submit that to an already existing profile in the system (meaning you can't change the current UPC to the one you have because the current UPC is for a valid profile and it should stay in the system), you have to make a new profile and submit that new profile. Unless it's proven than an existing UPC/Locality combo is completely incorrect, the profile remains in the system as is.

So the current UPC of 065935822967 stays in the system exactly as it is.

The iNetVideo UPC of 065935842606 that you have, has to have a brand new profile created for it.

If you buy something from Target and it has UPC attached to the shrink wrap but all the profiles in the shrink wrap have the exact same UPC as the ones in the system, you can either add all three separately to your collection using the UPCs already in the system, or create a boxset profile using the UPC from the shrink wrap (the cover scan has to match so you'd have to scan in the profile using the attached UPC from the shrink wrap) and attaching all three separate profiles as children profiles to the main parent profile, but you can't change the UPC for any of the existing profiles.

The Clash of the Titans with Movie Money is the same scenario as above. If it has a different UPC, even if by only two digits, you have to create a new profile, not change the existing profile.

You simply submit it. The primary-key for a profile is the combination of UPC and Locality. So if you change the UPC you create a new profile.

Is there a reason given for the rejection? Did you change all appropriate fields? See this check-list.

... the current 'Canadian' release ...

That might be a point, is the profile you want to create also canadian? If not the SRP might be wrong, see the chech-list. Also the covers must reflect the new UPC!

hm ... sounds strange ... do you have a more elaborate example for that? Are any of the used UPCs already in the database?

I did not know I need to try to rescan the cover??  I do not have a good scanner! }!!{
As basicly all I did was to take the current submitted Canadian disc, with the older UPC, change the UPC, and reupload, so that it would reflect the new UPC and even noted that was what I had done.

?? I don't care about the ''credit'' thing that some people fight over...

Resubmit.  When the box comes up asking if you want to submit, uncheck the box that says "include cover scans."  This will submit the new UPC profile without the cover scans of the current profile (having the wrong UPC on the scan will get it rejected every time).  In your submission notes, tell the screeners that you cloned the profile from the already approved UPC.  You need to tell them the UPC of the current profile you are cloning from.

Then, locally, lock the cover so that you will have the cover image.

Do what Danae Cassandra has suggested, but you should also double check that the information from the current Canadian disc matches your UPC. Like, is the overview the same? Is the release date the same? (Do a quick google search). Is the SRP in the correct currency? Is the runtime correct? Have you uploaded the correct Disc ID's (they might be different from the current UPC in the system to your discs). etc. etc. Change whatever might be wrong info from the current UPC to the correct info for your UPC.

Once you've done what Danae has told you to do and you've included the UPC of the profile you cloned, also tell them that you've double checked all the information and that it's correct or you've changed what was incorrect.

It sounds a little daunting, but honestly, it takes a relatively short amount of time (a few minutes, 10 maybe?) to double check that the information is correct.

If after you've done everything instructed here, if the profile is STILL declined (the generic reasons for declining profiles have really go to go...) come back here and list exactly what you did, your notes and what the reason for the decline was, maybe we could help you some more.

From the Contribution Rules: The covers must match the profile exactly, including the UPC and locality.
But as Danae described, simply don't contribute the now wrong covers and everything should be fine.
