I have been auditing features and audio in my collection.

I have noticed something.  In "Stargate Atlantis: The Complete Series"  "Scene Access" is checked in 19 of the 20 child profiles.

Now the only thing that is provided via the menu is "Search" and with "Search" -> "Timeline"  Now "timeline" allows ou to effectively move to a specific time.  Not the traditional look at specific scenes and select.

Now in my mind that is not scene access.

In the rules it states scene access to be "Menu option allowing access to individual chapters or scenes."

So I think what is on this disc falls short of "Scene Access"

But I wanted to bring it here first before I use the time and modify 19 profiles for something that may be interpreted differently.

I am willing to do the work necessary, but I want to make sure the work needs to be done.

All my TV sets are boxed at the moment, so I can't do a visual check as to what you mean by 'timeline', could you explain it a litte further?  If it just allows you to go to a specific runtime spot, I agree with you.  If, however, it allows you to go to a specific spot in the series 'timeline', then I might consider that 'scene access' as it takes you to specific scenes in the timeline.  Does that make sense?

It does.

To better describe it.

In the main menu for each disc the search and timeline are similar. However in the main disc menu you have to first select an episode and then you can go to a time in that episode.

You can use the right and left arroes to get to a time in the epsode.  The graphical line that is used to represent the time you are moving to also does not show you where each scene stops and starts.

So using the search function you can move from episode to episode and then move to a specific time in that episode.  But not a specific scene within that episode.  Unless you just happen to knwo the time that scene starts.

Does that help?

We're talking about the complete series Blu-ray box set right? I have it too and although it's not in a traditional sense, I consider that timeline feature to be a scene access of some sorts as it allows us to jump to specific points ... it's just in a different way than we're used to with regular scene access.

Just my 2 cents

Yes that is the one we are talking about.

But really no more different than your fast forward or rewind button does.

Another reason I ask is that there are other TV series with the same timeline feature and "Scene Access" is not checked in them.

Both "Modern Family" seaspns have that timeline.

I do not really consider the timeline a scene access myself.  But that is whay I opened the thread.  Because I did see how some could and it warranted the discussion.

Hmm, yes, I think there's a need for a consesus on whether or not these timeline features are considered as scene access or not.

It would be nice of Ken could weigh in on this ...

Agreed; maybe it could be moved to/discussed in the Contribution Rules Committee forum to bring it to his attention?

Well I do not know who would have access to do that.  Personally I have opened support tickets with questions and they replied back that it needed discussed there.  So I requested access about two weeks ago and no answer.

So I am not sure a discussion could happen there because it would take people discussing it that could actually see what that timeline was like.
