I've come across a user who has consistently lied in their notes stating they took the cast and crew from the disc but upon checking, little of it matches and it seems they're taking it from IMDb or some other third party database. Looking at their profile, they have a few hundred accepted profiles and I wanted to know if there's any way to see which ones so I can check my own database and correct any erroneous data which I'm 99.9% there is given this user's history.

Also, anyone think there should be a warning list for the screeners? It's one thing to make a mistake (lord knows I've made my fair share) but to outright lie (on a consistent basis) seems to warrant some kind of punishment, right?

Unfortunately only Invelos has access to contributions made by a specific user.

However, I do believe that you can perform a Google Advanced Search for Contribution Comments if you know the exact user name of the culprit in question .

If you find that a user is lying in the contribution notes, Invelos has said to send them a support ticket with the info. Said there would be contribution banning for such things. Though you may have to send info on current contributions... not past ones.

Yeah, good thing this info isn't public, because it can lead to witch hunts, as evidenced by this thread.

What witch hunt? A) I didn't mention the user by name (nor the movie he or she was contributing so it can't be determined that way) and B) I believe I was asking a legitimate question which was answered.

Edit:
Thanks for the responses Kathy and TheMadMartian. Exactly.

Evidenced how?  Movieman noticed a pattern of deceit, in a particular users contribution notes, and was looking for a way to find profiles submitted by this user and correct any erroneous data.

Bad Father offered a possible solution, and Pete reiterated Invelos' stance on the situation.  No user was identified, nor can they be from the little information given in the OP.

Since nobody is being harrased, undermined, exposed, etc., under the pretext of safeguarding the database, I see no evidence of a witch hunt.

I don't understand how you can consider this thread to be a "witch hunt".

The basic premise of this database is that the community is contributing data honestly and following Ken's rules and guidelines.

Of course there are times that someone makes an honest mistake. But, to deliberately and consistently lie about one's contributions should not be tolerated.

Not only is that unethical and a violation of the rules governing the use of profiler, it could lead to monetary fines that might result in the loss of this program.

It might be that this person does not understand that they are contributing data that is unacceptable and in violation of the rules. In that case a pm might be the first course of action.

On the other hand it might be they don't really care and are unwilling to accept that there are protocols that must be followed.

In that case I agree a support ticket is the way to go. This will alert invelos that there is a problem that needs to be addressed.

Invelos can then alert the user on ways to make their contributions compliant or ban them from contributing if they refuse to change.

I should note that I have PM'd this individual in the past to no avail...

Anyway, thanks again for the responses. Since the question has been answered, IMO the mod could lock it...

That was an important point. However, there are still a lot of assumptions being posted. People might be able to figure out who it is, and we are calling this person a liar, unethical, etc. If that person registered using their real name that could really be hurtful.

How should this be possible from the little info we were given?
I can only work by partial exclusion, it can't be me, since I only ever made 1 contribution for locality USA and never received a PM from "TheMovieman". But this leaves roughly estimated 30,000 other potential culprits.
On the other hand it isn't even stated that the problem is limited to USA contributions, and maybe I just overlooked his PMs ....  .... It might be me ...    ...
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

Edited this post to say: Bottom line is the user is unknown. The contribution is unknown therefore the identity is secure. I asked a legitimate question, got good answers. Not much point in discussing it any further.

Well you could google "contribution comments $username site:invelos.com" but that would give you a mass of links to click and read through.

You can also export a list of all the <ID>'s in your collection, build the links to the contribution pages with these, download them and search in them for the culprits username, but that would be arduous work.
