Since 2011 has been the year of the 3D and as many titles have been released in that format it will be logical now to include the Blu-ray 3D as a format alone. Technically it is a Blu-ray disc, but they won't all play on a regular 3D player being so those disc are very distinct from the regular release for most of them.

It is time time to set a rule on those.

I propose for now on until the program can include Blu-ray 3D as full format to enter in Edition 3D nothing more nothing less for the moment to make sure that the 3D and the 2D editions are not mixed up.

As was said... this has been discussed on more then one occasion. Going by what Ken posted, it at least don't seem it will be it's own format. That it is going in the Video section... HERE is where Ken commented on it.

Also Ken commented on how to handle the titles HERE from a title/edition perspective

Also in that thred it shows how many are handling it for now via tags and some are using custom media types.

I just noticed you voted NO on my change to "Drive Angry".  Removing "Blu-ray 3D" from the edition field.

I made that change based on  Ken comments on how to handle the titles HERE from a title/edition perspective

Also in that thread are how people are using custom media types and/or tags on these locally until 3.8 is released.

Based on the fact that the only place where "Blu-ray 3D" is located on the media banner the change is correct on how Ken expects them to be done.  We all just have to be patient until 3.8 comes out and use local mehods.

I have a lot of 3D titles and I use tags so I can search them fast.  I also use the custom media type so my profiler displays the 3D logo.

Also if you prefer it in the edition field you can just lock it and track it locally.  But information from the media banner is not supposed to be in the edition field in the online database, and Ken commented on how to title these by example in the above link.

The rules are there to govern the data quality of the online database.  Locally you can do whatever you like.  Just be sure to lock what you want to keep that you change locally

There are many ways this can be handled until 3.8 comes out.

Scooter1836,

Ken has ruled on the correct way to contribute 3D DVDs to the database: HERE

If your contribution is correct and follows his guidelines, you might want to send the "no" voter a pm directing them to this clarification.

If your contribution does not follow those guidelines, you will need to keep that data local until the next update.

LMAO

I posted that exact link in my post.

The contribution did in fact follow those guildlines and it was made in response to those guidelines, as well cobtributing other 3D profiles to change to those guidelines.  It was nice to finally get some clarifications.

I did PM the person that voted NO, which tured out to be the OP.  But I went ahead and put it here also since I noticed he opened this thread.

One other thought - you might want to Edit your contribution notes so the Screener, seeing "no" votes, doesn't accidentally decline your correct contribution(s).

Copying this tread link will also alert others to Ken's clarification since it isn't in the rules but in a forum posting.

Or, VirusPil has collected all of Ken's clarifications into a pinned thread under Contributions found HERE
