I was under the impression that we do not include location data for "VFX Companies", similar to the way studios are handled.

I thought

"Visual Effects by Framestor" was correct
"Visual Effect by Framestor Vancouver" was improper

Am I mistaken?

I am not aware of any standard that excludes their use.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

The studio rule applies for the group dividers as well:

I don't see enough driving reason for completeness in this field to warrant deviation from the existing studio rule.  Therefore, leave out the suffixes here as well.  I'll queue this up for inclusion in the next rules update.

The studio rule regarding suffixes:

Omit company suffixes such as LLC, Ltd., Inc.

Omit any locality-specific suffix. e.g. Enter Paramount Home Entertainment, not Paramount Home Entertainment (UK)

That is for studios yes... but when talking about these dividers Ken is pro-extended information.

List individual credits only, not company name credits. Exception: If a company name heads a group of crew, use the Group divider to enter the company name

This is saying that we don't list company names as credits, we list them as a group divider.  It does not say that we only list the company name.

Dividers help give context to the credits in the group.  That is not best served by excluding this extended information.  Include it.

It seems to me at least this is something that helps give context to the credits in the group. So think per Ken's clarification... it is to be included.
