| | Posted: | | | | This is getting really tiring. I don't contribute very often, usually since the movie profiles are already in place so there is nothing to add.
However I had a couple titles that didn't exist under the UPC on the case, despite those titles existing with other UPCs. So I did what I have done (and was instrcucted in the forums) to do, which was to find the US version of the title, change the locality (from US to Canada) and then change the UPC to reflect the Canadian-specific UPC that the DVD was sold with.
I then submitted the changes, and it was rejected for lack of source. What source? It's off the DVD case and I said as much. I'm not altering the old UPC, the old UPC code for the US locality is fine, this is a NEW UPC and locality. There is no 'old upc' to reference.
The approval process seems to be geared to reject all but a narrow range of sumbission, which is unfortunate since it means the database won't be nearly as complete. |

Ummm..actually there is. The UPC you copied your Canadian Profile from would be the source. Reference that in your contribution notes. | | | | My WebGenDVD online Collection |

Here is an example contribution note that I created when cloning a title. I have never had a clone of a new profile ever be rejected (so far).
"Creating optional DVD child profile by disc ID cloning form approved UPC 733961249071 - Added overview, studio as per case - Added actual cover scans - Added disc info - Added audio as per disc menu "
You see here I documented which UPC was cloned, why it was cloned and any changes I had to make (with sources).
Also when just changing locality be sure to not only change the locality of the UPC, but also the locality of the SRP.
That and make sure the UPC on the cover scans match the new UPC you are creating. | | | | Last edited: by Scooter1836 |

4) Make sure your contribution notes are clear and to the point. Reference source links if needed, incouding forum links on clarifications.
From what I have seen the mistake people make the most is not documenting the sources. |

It's also possible the store you got it from just has some imported stock from the States, although many of my US disc UPC's have identical Canadian versions (I never bothered to check if covers were different though, just clicked US and went on with it). The more info you can provide, the harder it is to be wrong or misunderstood.  |

The more info you can provide, the harder it is to be wrong or misunderstood. Many Canadian UPC's have different covers because of the laws requiring bl-lingual french and english |
