I want to contribute some changes for Hannibal Rising

This is a 2 disc version with on Disc 1 the theatrical version in 1.85:1 anamorphic and disc 2 the Uncut version in 2.35 letterbox.

The uncut version on disc two has the longest running time. I was wondering which version must be used in the profiler because the versions aren't on the same disc.

For branching titles, or those with multiple versions (e.g. Theatrical and Director's Cut) on the same disc, use the longest running time.



And I can see that's where the OP is confused since the wording of the rules seems to apply only to movies with different editions on the same disc, not the same movie on more than one disc.

Going strictly by the wording of the rules one can't use the running time of the film on disc 2 even though it's the same movie. Thus the running time of the movie on Disc 1 should be the one that's used since it's the first disc.




This sounds like something that should be added to the rules to cover this situation to make it more clear if the intention was to use the longer running time if a movie is in different lengths on more than one disc.


That's how I interpret the rules in this regard.

I was looking through my collection for examples of how this has been handled before.

If you look at UPC 883929007691 - "The Exorcist: Director's Cut & Theatrical Version" where the theatrical version is on a second disc.

Now the Disc's are not numberd, but the Extended cut is the first in the package

What they did was put the information of the extended cut in the parent profile and then created an optional child profile that contained the information for the secod disc (theatrical cut).

This does seem consistant to profile disc 1 and an optional child profile for disc 2.

FWIW because of the way the Rule is worded I for one have seen 'extended cut' run times being changed to the shorter length when the extended cut is on a second disc (and accepted because that IS the way it's worded)
