Hello

On the image you see the German Steelbook. They write: Scre4m and the 4 is in red. For me the red is because it has 2 meanings, once the 4 is an A, once the 4 is a 4. Everybody votes yes for Scre4m, does this really help the normal user. When you scan the disc from EAN, you don't see it and later you search for Scream 4 you will never find it. When you have a disc where EAN is not readable anymore and you search in the online database, you will never find it. What would you vote in this case?

We had the same discussion with T4Xi and it led to countless pages where every side remained firm on their POV.

According to the rules you have to enter "Scre4m" however stupid that for a searchable text title field is.

Luckily we have locks where you can undo such "artistic creativity".

Exactly, it is an "artistic creativity". Such creations look nice, but are not searchable. To show it they made it red. But in the Titel we have no colors to do such artworks and it really does not help the normal user to find a film and it's position in his collection :-). And if everybody then changes it anyway locally and locks it, why not do it right from the beginning? :-)

What makes you think everybody is going to "fix" it locally and lock it? Every title I have in my collection that does something like this is in my collection as it is on the front cover. In my experience from past threads this has been pretty much even on both sides on what people prefer.

The rules as well as the clarification from Invelos both supports Scre4m.

Scre4m - as per the rules.
Then change it locally.

Which is a shortcoming on the program-side.

Title: "Scre4m" (obviously)
Original Title: "Scream 4"

And every title-search should search both fields.

PS works perfect for "Se7en" locally in my DB

PPS And if the Original Title is unsuitable for some reasons, "Title Searchstrings" or sum'thing like it

Unfortunately it IS Scre4m. I personally wish it was 'Scream 4', but as has been pointed out already, as far as the rules are concerned, it is as the packaging shows (you can, of course, alter it locally for your own preference).

Hopefully, in a future update, the program will be able to recognize both 'Scream 4' and 'Scre4m' as the same movie.

As Mithi says, the Original Title field takes care of this for now.

Exactly this.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

If I'm not mistaken however, the original title of the film is also Scre4m. That's how the title credit plays it (I created a profile a couple of weeks ago and I swear that's how it played out and I rolled my eyes until they just about came out of my head because I knew that had to be the original title as well).
The night is calling. And it whispers to me soflty come and play.

Merrik, you are right. I just searched in the online database for Scream 4. Nothing in the States. They are with Titel and Original Titel "Scre4m" in the database. It's very different, France, Sweden and others have Scream 4 in both. Strange, if the films name is really Scre4m, what spells "Scre for m". What an idea :-) and who will find something like that? ;-)

I, for one, always call it "Scre-form" ever since they were advertising it on buses.  (It just sounds cool to my warped little sense of humor.)  This opinion, however, is offered by one who has no interest in the film, nor the shiny round things with the film on it.

If I were to add it to my collection, it would be:

Title: Scre4m
Sort Title: Scream 4
Original Title: Scream 4 (to allow searching for that variation)

Locked and never to be submitted.

This is true, I watched it the other night hoping it wouldn't have that same (silly) logo as the cover on the film itself, but it does. My local is Scre4m title and original title, Scream 4 for sort. None show up for searching Scream, but I'm pretty sure I know where it is in the collection list, right after Scream 3 and just before Se7en.
Once I sell/trade my old Scream dvd boxset it will literally be exactly right between them.

I understand why there has to be a system for the online.

But putting the online aside, may I ask why do you do it locally? What's your personal benefit of having a tite locally you can't find by putting in the words instinctively?

You still have the cover for a graphic representation, why put something unreadable into the title?

This is the way I have it in my local also. I'm just the kind of guy who doesn't want to change the title as it appears from the film, so it remains as Scre4m in my local for the title, with Scream 4 for the sort title. It does however come up in my local if I simply search Scream 4, so that's not a worry to me if I want to get to the title quickly by typing it in (and instinctively I also know where it's going to be sorted as well, kind of like I know that 2 Fast 2 Furious is going to come after The Fast & the Furious and not under 2 Fast).
The night is calling. And it whispers to me soflty come and play.

This is not possible since Title filter only read data from Title and Original Title fields. You must have it as a Scream 4 on your Original Title field.
