I have the Horror Cinema DVD. 8 movies on 2 discs (2 movies per side.) Disc id's goes back to 2 other box sets The Midnight Horror Collection: Blood Predators, The Midnight Horror Collection: Flesh Eating Zombies. They each have 1 disc double sided with 2 movies per side. So this dvd would be grandparent>parent>child.
For the profile cover of the discs they should be the parent cover, or the grandparent cover.
And for the Box set contents grandparent should have the parent profiles.

For the disc profiles the covers should stay from the first releases, which are the parents. You can use the grandparent cover if you like, but don't submit it as it falls under the re-release cover rule.

The grandparent should get the new cover scans, the list and synopsis of films included (whatever is on back cover), and the disc ID's.

Well, that depends. Does "Horror Cinema" really include those two older sets, or is it a new set with the same discs?

If it includes the sets the "Horror Cinema" should have those two added as children by UPC.
If it simply includes the sames discs "Horror Cinema" should have those 4 DiscIDs as children.

In both cases the covers of the "old" profiles have to stay the same, as Bigdaddyhorse already wrote: it's a "first release stays" situation.

Locally you are of course free to copy the covers to whatever profile you like. Movieposters or from other releases of the title(s) or you could even mock up your own if you have the skills and the time.

I was entering the disc by id and the came back as belonging to Blood Predators box set of 4 movies 1 disc.
and Flesh eating zombies 4 movies 1 disc. Same 2 movie titles on each sides of discs. (2 discs, 2 titles per side, total of eight movies.

OK, so the disc-level profiles already belong to a box set, and they should have the covers of the oldest release, they were included in.

But you still haven't answered the most important question: how is your release (what you call "grandparent") set-up?

Is it a Slip Case (with UPC), containing the two previously released sets in their own original packaging (perhaps Keep Case with UPC). In this case your set-up would be grandparent > parent > disc-level child.

But if your "grandparent" is a single Keep Case, that contains two (previously released) discs without a specific packaging with UPC, the set-up is "grandparent" > disc-level child. The "parent" level doesn't exist in this case. You should include the four disc-level childs, but you're not allowed to change the cover scans (it's up to the users to correct those scans locally only). Also, you're not allowed to "invent" a parent level if there isn't one, and you're also not allowed to do this, if your set contains a separate parent-level packaging without UPC.

it is a single keep case with 2 indvidual discs.Just the 1 UPC on the back of my keep case. It looks like Echo Bridge combined 2 different previously released box sets (Each have 1 disc double sided with 2 titles on each side) into 1 new box set containing all 8 titles using the same discs. No slip cover, no mention of the previous box sets. So my contribution would be parent>child. So anything for the child profiles is the responsability of the orig. parent. All I contribute is cast and crew. and the dvd data for my parent.

Yes, that sounds like the way to go.

PS I really hope we get a way to handle multiple covers someday, that would make a bit easier.

I've had box sets that had a individual disc id for a previous single release. But this is my first that had discs that were in a differt box set before this box set.

Expect a lot more of this with Echo Bridge's Miramax deal, I keep seeing those titles show up in all kinds of new boxsets. Like you can buy Prophecy 1 and 2 together on one disc, another set has that same disc along with a second containing parts 4 and 5.

2-3 new 8 packs like the one this thread was about, a couple versions of From Dusk Till Dawn (one with just Full Tilt Boogie, the other with FTB and parts 2,3)... These are all things I saw at K-Mart yesterday, the only thing I didn't see was the Children of the Corn 6 pack of 2-7 which I was looking for. I did see Corn 2-3 on it's own disc which I'm sure is disc 1 of the boxset I seek.

I also see this a lot in the Mill Creek Entertainment boxsets... especially in the 50 & 100 movie sets.

I've seen those and don't even want to try and contribute a profile for that. I'm not someone into all the bells and whistles a single release has. I've been buying alot of double ,4-film, multi-sets.
