This is a first for me.

I recently bought a UK ex-rental version of The Proposal (Sandra Bullock) from Blockbuster.

When I went to add it to Profiler the EAN pulled down the retail DVD version.

I've never seen this happen before with different formats both released on the same day.

Obviously, because the DVD is already in the online db I know I'm poo-outta-luck about putting my BD into the db.

Just curious if anyone else has come across this with a dvd/bd film?

Can't you add it by Disc ID (provided you've got a BD drive)?

I don't own a BD drive.

However, I have done a full audit under the EAN - so...if anyone else has also bought this ex-rental version and can create the Disc ID profile with the barest minimum of information (assuming that they don't want to do any more), I will then be able to submit all the details.

Here in Germany several labels do not create different EAN /UPC # for their retail and rental discs. Usually this indicates the discs are 100% identical, also regarding extras and / or bonus content. The only significant difference in these cases are usually the release date and the SRP.

Do I understand you correctly though, that in this case the DVD and BD release share the same EAN / UPC?

That's correct; and it's what made this so unusual in my experience.
