Good evening, Sirs,

back in the days when I took part in the Invelos contributing and voting process I would have asked myself:

would I remove a Make-up Effects Artist?

Would you?

No, and I don't understand anybody that would.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

Just checked the crew-credits chart and found it immediately.
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

It seems ludicrous to remove something so plainly obvious.

I would credit this Crew member and believe I would be correct in doing so.

So would i but as there is no specific credit in the crew list for this role i don't believe one could vote no by the rules if someone removed them

Nope, one couldn't vote no. But it's still ludicrous.

I'm just waiting for someone to go on a wholesale removal of many of Robert Rodriguez' crew roles (for example) in his movies...including the Editor and Director credits. Those match the Rule's crew table even less.

It's about the Artist, when scanning pending updates I stumbled upon "Removed make-up effects artists from the crew. They're not listed in the crew section of the rules (although regular "make-up artists" are).".

Thanks for the answers, keeping the artists seems the common sense solution.

Even if I normally take the wording very exact, I'd also say I wouldn't remove them.
Sometimes a small change in the rules would help to remove such unneeded questions and the discussions that may follow.

This role is not in the rules, so it has to be removed. I still do not understand that some rules are taken strictly, and other not.

Saying that, I do not give my opinion on the fact that this role should or should not be listed.

I'm sure if all other issues were instantly solved with the program and website, then "make-up effects artist" would be added to the grid of acceptable roles. Right now it's probably near the bottom of concerns for Ken. It's 80% there already, common sense fills in the other 20%!

I've been contributing them and will continue to. Removing just seems silly. If they've already been approved, then they must be right! Kidding about that, but I'm sure many have been contributed by others and are perfectly correct.

I also know many names that were accepted against rules. Do you mean we are now allowed to violate rules when common sense says to do so and when screeners have already accepted equivalent data ??

This is a new option I find really awsome  .

If a title is missing one word, or that word is the wrong place, it doesn't make it wrong.
I also credit make-up department heads when applicable, and supervising editors when no non-supervising editor is present. If we went by the letter of each rule, then we'd leave out tons of valid credits. I'm not saying break the rules, it's hardly even bending them really. Oh yeah, should all my French and German films have no credits at all? Make-up is called masque.. Someone esle mentioned Robert Rodriguez already, who is always credited for editing with "cut" and cinematopgraphy with "shot".

You did catch me saying just kidding about the "If they've already been approved, then they must be right!" quote right. No way do I believe that, unless it supports my nefarious purposes at the time.

Of course if they weren't so many wrong credits from imdb copying, then the CLU results might reflect reality a bit better. Maybe you're onto something, the less credits possible, the less errors likely.

Personally I was happier when all profiler tracked was 2 spaces for Director.
