is there a way to stop a 'moron' who keeps contributing the following on approved and valid contribution "SCREENERS! Please delete this profile." .. That individual is failing to understand that movies bought in any given countries can actually be contributed in the country purchase: this is the only way to have the currency displayed correctly.

Anyway, it is becoming aggravating to keep voting 'no' to his insanity. If a "screener" is actually reading this comment... can you act on it?

Thanks

Eric

Huh? I'm sorry but if I buy a US disc in the UK I cannot add it as locality for the UK just so I can add the SRP in £.

You can't add a German release as locality Canada just because that is where you bought it.

I vote yes to these submissions and submit many of them myself.

IMO, you're totally in the wrong here.

If I understand what is being said, then I have to agree with Sam.  If you buy a German import...a DVD meant to be sold in Germany, but imported to Canada...you can't create a Canadian profile for it as the locality is still Germany.

I also agree with sam. I buy a few DVDs from amazon.ca and I keep them Canadian.
One of our TV stations shows some Canadian TV series late at night. I liked the series,
but they were not available in the US.

Locally do as you please.

And I agree with your trio

If I was using the way of the topic openner all my profile would be Canada (Quebec) and even if I like my province a lot that wouldn't made any sense at all... Seriously a movie in german only with no subtitles would be contributable as a Canada (Quebec) release, I'm sure you see how that make no sense for a single second...

Fully agreed with the previous 4 comments.

You can do this locally, but shouldn't submit discs to incorrect localities just because you purchased them there.

I always enter the purchase price in Euro, no matter where I bought the item. And I misuse the SRP field to enter the original item price in the country of purchase. I've never had any problems with any currency for these fields.

I can't contribute it, sure, but why would I even try?

I have been actively doing this too. I don't believe I am a 'moron'. I have tried to add several dozen releases into my Wish List recently and been confronted with many obviously incorrect entries to the United Kingdom locality. For a start, many of these titles had Russian or Oriental writing on the cover instead of the expected English. I have not been deleting these without a bit of research however. I have been checking to make sure these have indeed NOT been released in the UK.

And ... from the Rules page ...
"Make sure that the locality selected is correct for the release."

Make sure that the locality selected is correct for the release not for where you live or bought it.

This is actually not allowed, and that "individual" seems to be entirely right.

I don't think I have explained myself correctly: When I buy movies locally, most of the time the packaging will have a, for example, Canadian rating on it, no issue to contribute it to the 'Canadian side'... other titles will sometimes have the US rating system on the packaging (I am not talking about 'import' here) bought here, BUT the packaging can still be different from what can be found in the USA - distributor and overview sometimes differ from one side of the border... I am not going to start to hunt on amazone.com//ca, bestbuy.com/.ca or other sites to figure out what is where..

I think I get what you mean... It's a case were you bought a movie in a store and the rating isn't on the cover, but the rating was in fact present in the package because the rating board of the locality put a sticker inside the package but not on the dvd itself. So you live in the same locality that I live in right

Haven't bought a dvd in a store for quite a long time, but if this is the case I described I don't see a problem to do as you do. Just add the explaination of why the rating doesn't appear on the cover, since none of us destroy our DVDs by sticking those stickers on them.

Like this one by exemple who belong to the Canada (Quebec) locality even if no other rating than "R" appears on the cover. The real locality rating being on a sticker and not written the cover...

Give an example. What is someone trying to delete at the moment, because the way I'm understanding you (and no, you're not really explaning yourself correctly  ) it's not what No_Name_Needed is thinking it is.

You've got a proper Canadian locality dvd/blu-ray that someone is trying to delete? Is that simply the problem? What dvd/blu-ray is someone trying to delete. We can see if it's a valid request to have it removed or not (because there are a TON of Canadian locality profiles that do NOT need to be in the system... Just because something was bought in Canada doesn't mean it's Canadian locality. I have a bunch in my local and am currently trying to move all of them over to the proper U.S. locality profiles).
The night is calling. And it whispers to me soflty come and play.

It still sounds you are describing an import.  It was intenedeb to be sold as  canada release and that is where it goes not US. The key was your talking about packaging which may be different from what is purchased her. Please stop inserting such titles into the US locality they belong where they are and should absolutely be removed from the US locality. Just because you can buy it in US doesn't mean it is a US locality title

If there are US profiles for any Alliance Blu-Ray releases, those should be Canadian only. Yeah I bought a few in US stores, but it's still a Candian release from a Canadian company. Not sure if this is even an issue or not.

bigdaddy:

The question is simply was it intended as a Canadian release. If that answer is it should be a Canadian locality profile. It's not about where it was purchased. I know places in the US where I can purchase all manner of foreign releases, including the UK, even Israel and so on. The place of purchase is merely that the place of purchase and has nothinmg to do with the locality. If I were to go buy a vopy of Tron: legacy which was the release drom let's say Germany, then the Profile shpuld be setup for the German locality regarfless of the fact that purchased it right here in the US
