Numbers are not adjusted, removing a profile leaves a hole.
There is a renumbering option (menu Collection/Reassign Collection Numbers) with a number of settings.
You may also give a future new profile the free number manually (in Personalize Profile).

Typically, you would use the same options that you used to sort in the first place.
But that does imply that at least once you let the program do the sorting...

I would advise to send in a change request, but noted that you just did. Until that gives results (don't hold your breath), I personally would fill in the gaps by letting new acquisitions take their place, if I found the particular order to be important at all.

Actually, that won't work unless the DVD you've bought occupies the same place in the alphabet.  Unless/until an option to reassign collection numbers without making any other changes is made available, the only option at this point is to rename 'Sort By's' and hope Reassign Collection Numbers doesn't mess the collection order up so that you'd have to spend alot of time rearranging everything once it was complete.      -kd5-

My DVDs are in alpha/numeric order, both alphabetically and numerically.  As I get a new DVD, once entered in DVD Profiler, I choose 'Insert Collection Number' where it needs to be alphabetically (which moves all subsequent numbers up one, or down one depending on how you look at it), then renumber the new DVD (using the empty spot I just created) so that it is in both alphabetic and numeric order.  I am somewhat of a neat freak and a little bit of a perfectionist...         -kd5-

Yes but it makes other changes as well.  Unless you go into each season of each series, each multi-disc DVD, and each new movie in a franchise (Star Trek movies for instance) and rename the Sort Title for each disc/movie so that when you Reassign Collection Numbers they are not also rearranged, then once the Reassign Collection Numbers is complete you have to go into your collection and change everything back.  I have each disc of each series, each disc in a multi-disc DVD, and each new movie in a franchise arranged in alpha/numeric order (Ex: One, Two, Three, Four, Five, or Star Trek I, II, III, IV, V (with subtitles), etc. which would get rearranged as well, with a Reassign Collection Numbers by anything).  I've been trying to go through my collection and rename Sort Titles so that wouldn't happen if/when I needed to Reassign Collection Numbers but it's a MONUMENTAL task.  It would be so much simpler if there was an additional option to Reassign Collection Numbers without making any other changes, and it would also be nice to have that option available when/if/where you needed to Remove a DVD from your collection.  It's really not that extraordinary a request.      -kd5-

I don't even know what CTRL-C or STRL-V does, all I know is that even with whatever those options do, a 2-3 hour job would become unnecessary if we just had an option to Reassign Collection Numbers without making any other changes.  No 'Order By's', no Rearranging, just eliminate the gap that you created by removing a DVD from your collection.      -kd5-

V looks like a caret (^), which is the proofreader's mark for insertion.
