Ok I have a bit of a head scratcher here.

I have the All-Star Superman BluRay-DVD-DC release,

It is already a box set BUT the BR movie is not in the list by Disc ID ( it needs a profile built )

Should be a simple copy and paste BUT, I have no way of getting the disc ID from the BR.

I like keeping the BR/DVD packs as Boxsets because that allows me to put them in the proper collections ( BluRay Movies and Animated Movies ) to manage the discs.

So, outside of buying a new BR drive for my laptop, any suggestions ?

There should be no reason for the blu-ray to have a profile by disc ID, you could do a manual profile.

If you are planning on contributing the disc ID profile please don't as this can create issues with possible future releases using the same disc as previous releases.  Currently the profile for the blu-ray release is correct BY UPC with the DVD by disc ID as per the Bonus feature film rule.

Why not go for an external BR rewriter? It comes in very handy. I just contributed around 40 Disc IDs this weekend for titles in my database that had no BD Disc IDs.

I just got one on Friday for my laptop and it works great. I got the LG External 12x Super Multi Blue Lightscribe Blu-Ray Rewriter BE12LU30 from Amazon.com for $179.99.

My laptop (Acer AS8730-6918 18.4-Inch Laptop) doesn't have an eSATA port to take advantage of the higher transfer speeds so I also got the Syba SD-PCBX-ESA2 54mm ExpressCard and it’s so much faster than USB 2.0 . The minimum system requirements  were not mentioned anywhere on the Amazon.com product page so I was worried that my laptop wouldn’t be able to play Blu-ray discs after reading the minimum system requirements for the LG rewriter on the box. After installing the rewriter and the Cyberlink software included (Power2Go, PowerDVD 9, PowerProducer, MediaShow, PowerBackup, LabelPrint, USB Booster and the LG Tool Kit), I ran the Cyberlink BD Advisor that tests the system for Blu-ray playback and I got green lights across the board. Just to make sure I played “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1” with PowerDVD 9 and it played flawlessly .

I was planning to use the LG rewriter to backup my iTunes Library through iTunes but I found out that Steve Jobs hates Blu-ray and iTunes does not support backup to Blu-ray disc…only CDs or DVDs . My iTunes Library is 250GB in size and backing up to CDs or DVDs is just not practical.

True. Very annoying to say the least.

Is it possible to backup to a virtual DVD drive? While a bit of a pain, perhaps you could then copy multiple DVD ISO files to Blu-Ray discs?
Thanks for your support.

No...it's CD or DVD discs or nothing at all. Believe me, I've tried to backup via iTunes to external drives, both virtual and actual, and no go .
