I just picked up JFK: The Ultimate Collector's Edition at my shop.

It is a large box which originally had a paper back with the UPC on it.  It contains JFK: Director's Cut 2 Disc Special Edition in its own keep case with its own UPC and The Kennedys: America's Emerald Kings also in its own keep case with its own UPC.

It's currently in the database as a single film under the UPC of the large box, with cast & crew for JFK in this profile.  If you want to look at the current profile, or scans or something, it's UPC 883929027231 for that outer box.

Do you think this is correct?  If so, I will add The Kennedys: America's Emerald Kings as a bonus feature film to the profile.

Or do you think it should be profiled as a box set?

For a visual:

JFK: Ultimate Collector's Edition (by UPC, treated as film profile)
- The Kennedys: Americas Emerald Kings (by UPC, treated as bonus feature film profile
(UPC for JFK: Director's Cut 2 Disc Special Edition ignored entirely)

or

JFK: Ultimate Collector's Edition (by UPC, treated as box set parent)
- JFK: Director's Cut 2 Disc Special Edition (by UPC, child profile)
- The Kennedys: America's Emerald Kings (by UPC, child profile)

It's titled as an edition of the film JFK.  The other film would normally be a bonus feature.

However, since the box contains a standalone package for each film, it makes more sense to profile it as a box set.

Until the rules are changed, I believe it shoud be treated as a featurette.

Quote:
Featurettes: Any video documentary material regarding the film, or those associated with it.

Of course, this will depend on how you interpret "associated with".

Isn't The Kennedys: America's Emerald Kings a documentary film? http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1363110/

From how you describe it, it sounds like JFK is the main feature which makes the documentary a bonus feature. A traditional box set would have given the two titles equal status on the packaging.

The documentary is listed on the front cover rather prominently.

If it displays, here's a pic of the cover of the outer box (from Amazon)

Based on that cover, if someone profiled it as a box set, I would vote yes on it.

That cover clearly indicates a box set. Besides the fact that The Kennedys: America's Emerald Kings has an UPC of its own it's released/soled separately (e.g. Walmart and
Amazon).

Agreed.  It's being sold as a boxset of JFK and the documentary.

Having now seen the cover I change my previous stance and agree, that looks like a boxset.

Okay!  Thanks guys.

I profiled it as a box set locally, because that's how it appeared to me, but I didn't want to contribute that change unless I got some agreement about it.  Always glad to know I'm not crazy.
