My hat IS off to you in other places of the Globe .. as I know and have heard on our recent newsbroadcasts the reminder of how REALLY Bad the winter has been to parts of Eastern US New York- Boston-/ down thru Alabama-Georgia (where the kids have Never seen snow in their lives, - Florida, Texas& Los Angeles (Rain) then up thru North Atlantic Maritimes, over to Europe- Great Britain and Ireland, as well as well as Moscow -Russia, Australia ( flooding), - Thailand, as well as parts of eastern South America - Brazil . All Over the World in effect .... except here..  Last October here in the Pacific Northwest ( where I live) it was reported to expect the worst Winter ( here) in 100 years- with far above snowfall., We'll it looks like we dodged the bullit here, as I have yet to this day shoveled any snow or even installed snow tires on both my cars. ( wait, Is that Daffodills I see starting to bloom in my backyard).. But to the others here I pass my condolences over to you and yours ....... Makes more sense
For example 212 Fahrenheit is the boiling point of water which is 100 in Celsius

(Only Golf Courses should be in feet ) Canada and The USA was set in 1975/76 to change over to metric and the United States backed out at the last moment citing differences that their citizens wouldn't be able to understand the changes overnight , ( but as the years went by never did take it up) ,, and Canada did the big switcheroo , chnaging over all the signposts and all the packaging of consumer goods ..etc etc etc ( and I'm sure this was one of the reasons why to this day we still have a big deficit on our hands) .,, .. I'm still having to convert in my mind (i.e.) from Fahrenheit to Celsius to figure the temperature of the day .. but my kids don't understand Fahrenheit or standard imperial measurements at all .. | | | In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. | | Posted: | | | | The point I make, is what difference is it. Depending on where I am and who I am talking to, will make a difference on what measurement I am using.
I am comfortable with "Imperial Standards" or "Metric", but actually use a mix. I typically measure distance in "Metric" and volume in "Imperial". Depending on age of Auto, may use either. And when I was dealing in physics, used Kelvin. It is all an arbitrary reference, with standards set by some lab (in the US it is the Naval Institute of Standards). So why make the issue, when we all come up with he same physical measurement?
By the way, the US is slowly (emphasis on slowly) changing from one to the other, most everything is listed with both (except a lot of highway signs, go figure). |

There's a section of Interstate (I19, I think) near Tucson which is marked in kilometers. Just for a short stretch & then it goes back to miles. Does anyone know why? We did have a few days back in December. But it was little more than a dusting unless you were up in the hills.
