| Posted: | | | | I tried doing a forum search, but I see that searching is still broken in that I always get a timeout from the invelos web server.
Now that I have a BD burner installed in one of my XP systems, what is out there (free) that can create a disc ID that DVDP uses and more specifically, read the media (DVD or BD), to determine what is set regarding region codes?
Obviously I'll also have to install something to allow XP to actually access a BD disc (if the software being used to create a disc ID or display the region codes doesn't have it built in).
Thanks in advance. | | | Mr Video Productions If it isn't Unix, it isn't an OS :-) |

| Posted: | | | | DVDP itself reads the Disc ID.
For the Disc info just select 'Set' when the disc is in there and it reads it. For setting up a profile by Disc ID (ie when no EAN/UPC is available) use the Add DVD "By inserted Disc' tab | | | It is dangerous to be right in matters where established men are wrong |

That is going to be a problem. DVDP is installed on a W2K system, while the BD burner is installed in another computer that is being used for H.264 encoding (x264). The problem is that DVDP does not allow a manual entering of the disc ID. You either have the drive in the PC with DVDP or you can't enter it. What you could do is install a secondary DVDP on the BR machine, then just read the disc ID and backup/restore just the one profile. | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

| Posted: | | | | DJ Doena covered your DiscID issue perfectly. For Windows XP you will need to install UDF 2.5 file system driver before you can read Blu-ray discs. There isn't official XP driver but you can install XBOX360 UDF 2.5 driver to your XP setup. This works perfectly, I have tested this by my self. Google this XBOX360.HD-DVDRom.UDF.Reader.v2.5.WindowsXP-BluePrint This might work also on Win2K, don't know. Of course you'll need BD drive also. Determining region codes you'll probably need some player (PowerDVD ???) or tool. Maybe that Nero Info tool works also, never used. DVDFab Passkey lite is free tool and I think that it can show DVD disc region codes. (Sorry if it wasn't ok to post info for this kind of tools in here)At the moment there isn't any tool that shows BD region codes correctly. Somebody can correct me if I'm wrong. Only way to be sure is to change regions one by one to player software and test if disc plays. I have used this tool with TotalMedia Theatre and I can recommend it. There is also similar free tool in DVDFab pages, never used this thou. |

I did run it though and it got mad when I went to do the BD compatibility test, as I have Nero 7 installed and it told me to run Info Tool 4. More later tonight after I get back and the encodings are done. | | | Mr Video Productions If it isn't Unix, it isn't an OS :-) |

In "Stop"-mode click on the "Info"-symbol and then on the tab labeled "Discinfo". Older versions (< 10) might not fully support this feature on BluRays | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up! But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

The Cyberlink web page for PowerDVD10 is extremely misleading with the graphic at the top. From that, one would think that all of them (2 versions) would handle Blu-rays. Nope. Only that 3D Ultra version. I don't need 3D, so I just upgraded to the Mark II Deluxe. Doesn't read Blu-ray. Now I have to deal with customer service to get that straightened out. | | | Mr Video Productions If it isn't Unix, it isn't an OS :-) |
