Ok, I may be opening a long debate... I looked on the forums and could not find anything related to the subject.

I have about 10 3D movies, and the submission for them have been interesting in terms of title/edition.

I know there are no rules between the manufacturers, and we are supposed to use what is on the cover, but we may need some rules for 3D in order to keep data that makes sense.

Let's take "Monster House in 3D". The movie was released in 2D, then as several animated movies made available in 3D. The title in DVDP is now "Monster House in 3D" as on the cover, but do we need to add that, or have only 3D as an Edition?

I have also seen in Edition "Blu-Ray 3D". OK, it's on the cover, but do we need to repeat "Blu-Ray" when the media type is already known as Blu-Ray. I submitted to remove it from the 3D version of "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs", and it has been accepted by all so far.

If we look at "A Christmas Carol" or "Despicable Me", 3D is nowhere except in the lists of discs. So where do we put 3D now?

This is only to name a few.

Before I start to make changes and submit them, I would like some opinions, or maybe that will trigger Ken to set some new rules (along with a 3D feature checkbox for the next release).

Until there is a 3D solution added to the program, you could make a custom tag, add it your sort title or add it to the notes field. All of the above will give you something you can search on. I know it's not the best solution, but it would work for now. I'm sure there are other ways it could be accomplished with the tools available in the program presently.

I don't know that it is against the rules.  According to the rules, "The Edition field is for distinguishing between DVDs..."  If there is a 2D and a 3D version, then having 3D in the edition field seems to fit that purpose.
