| | Posted: | | | | Was working on some stuff for my local today on this film, and had to look-up a credit with the CLT. I see the film's title is listed multiple ways. E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial E.T. - The Extra-Terrestrial I know the third option is incorrect. We don't use hyphens to separate titles unless they're specifically present on the cover, but does this title get a colon to separate E.T. and The Extra-Terrestrial? Colons are designated in the rules to separate episode descriptors. The Extra-Terrestrial in the title isn't an episode descriptor however, and I have yet to see it present on any covers. I'm thinking that the title I have in my local of E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial is correct. For reference sake, the credit block on the back has "E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial" and here's a screen grab of the title credits:  And on the flipside, IMDB (I know I know, we don't use IMDB, just presenting another side) has the title listed as E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial. | | Posted: | | | | That's how we do it with every other movie in a title: subtitle format. See Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, Baseball: A Film by Ken Burns, Batman: The Movie, Blood: The Last Vampire and so on. |
