I have been working on the credits for a History Channel set - Haunted Histories Collection: Volume 2.  I have the disc level profiles done

I'm uncertain as to what to do with the parent (keeps) & super-parent (slip) profiles.

For Television series the rules tell us to enter the cast/crew in the parent profile.  While this set is Television, it is not a series.  There are episodes from three different series on the discs, and neither is a complete series or season of that series.

So, am I supposed to enter the cast & crew in the parent & super-parent profiles?  Or not?

Personally, I would enter them in the parent profiles, but not the super-parent profile (treating the parent profiles as if they were season sets and the super-parent as if it were a comprehensive series set).

BTW: do the individual keeps also contain episodes from different series?

The TV Set Rules apply, even though this is not a "series", per this section of the Rules:

Quoting the Rules:
Quote:

TV Series on DVD

TV Series on DVD come in 2 separate types:

    * Complete Series/Season sets
    * Anthologies of Episodes that do not form a complete series or season.

This would fall under the category of "Anthologies of Episodes.

As such, the parent profiles, at all levels, should include full cast and crew listings.

Yes.  Keep Case 1 contains 2 TV specials - Haunted Houses & More Haunted Houses - and 1 episode of The Unexplained ("Zombies").

Keep Case 2 contains 2 episodes - 1 from The Unexplained ("Voodoo Rituals") & 1 from Decoding the Past ("In Search of the Real Frankenstein")

I read that rule differently, as it still talks about 2 types of TV Series. The way I read it, both types mentioned here are referring to a single TV series, and the latter category contains "best of" sets or thematic sets such as the Borg episodes of Star Trek. Obviously, your mileage may vary.

To me it seems that the situation in this case is not covered by the rules, which would imply this should be entered in the "spirit" of the rules as we understand them. In my view, what comes closest to the situation at hand is this phrase in the rules:
"In rare cases where multiple Complete TV Series are packaged together, the Box-set rules can be applied, treating each series like a single film - applying the above rules for it’s individual profile."
where "each series" in this case could be replaced with "each keep case".

That's too bad. If the individual keeps would contain episodes from one series only, then at least those would be covered by the rules.

These are far from being "Multiple Complete TV Series packaged together".  They are an "Anthology of Episodes".  I don't see anything there that says they have to be from the same TV series.

Just my reading of the Rules.

I read it the same way as Hal... in this instant it is anthology of episodes.

Sure looks like an anthology of episodes to me.

It is indeed a question of how you read the rules. The clue for my reading is in the part you quoted: "Anthologies of Episodes that do not form a complete series or season" (my bolding - singular!)- which (to me at least) seems to indicate that this category refers to a sample of episodes from a single series - otherwise it would have read "one or more complete series or seasons".

But see it don't have to say that... because with  "Anthologies of Episodes that do not form a complete series or season"... if you have that on a release whether it is the same series or not... if it doesn't complete a complete series or season... it is an anthology of episodes.

You are reading more into it then is actually there. It is saying anything other then complete series or season... and a few from different series is indeed that.

I'm not following your logic.  The example in the OP does not form a complete series (or season).

It meets the parameters described in the Rules exactly for an "Anthology of Episodes".

Of course it does not form a complete series, that was not my point. My point was that the rule you quoted mentions a (singular!) series, not multiple series. Sorry if I didn't make myself clear first time around.

I see where you are coming from.  The Star Trek: Fan Collectives or Best Of sets are the types of releases you are talking about.  I can see how the rule can be read that way.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

Thanks for that. It might be less ambiguous if the current rule would read something like:

"TV Series on DVD come in 2 separate types:

    * Complete Series/Season sets
    * Any other combination of episodes from one or more series."
