Unfortunately 2.0 Surround is still not implemented for a lot of sound formats, which is why I just made a request for it in version 3.7 but I'm not holding my breath... Actually, it says in the link VirusPhil provided that it's a stereo mix that simulates surround, so the current 2.0 stereo option would suffice I think. Quote:

SPHE/CTHE had for a very long time common Surround tracks on the German RC2 discs, because a (low-budget) DVD player with a common TV doesn't support center audio. The automatic 5.1 "downmix" is a pain in the a...sset because you almost don't hear the voices inside the background sound. You can use _every_ 2.0 Surround track as "Headphone Surround", and on every low-tech DVD-TV solution to better comprehend the voices in the movie. While Sony had (yes, long time ago) Surround tracks on their DVDs, MC One had an explicit marketing for those (e.g. Headphone Surround).
So MC One's Headphone Surround works perfectly on my TV set, while I have a real problem with 5.1 tracks, which I have to run on my computer (with a 5.1 card, and a cheap 5.1-set-up). So I really don't see a point to introduce a new entry, or point this out in the Features section. |

From what I understand, headphone surround is a real 2.0 channel track without any matrixed channels. The difference to "normal" 2.0 stereo would be similar to dummy head recording (also known as artificial head or Kunstkopf). Also described as binaural recording. | | | | Last edited: by RHo |
