On Monday October 25 I ordered the Blu-ray of Apocalypse Now from HD Movie Source. This is the US version of the movie. When I added it to my profiler there were another version of this movie. What I think is stranger with this profile (031398126201) is that it was entered into the database July 30th 2010, and the releasedate in profiler is October 19th 2010. The covers didn't match either, in profiler it says only HD Slim, my version is with a slip cover. Both at hdmoviesource and axelmusic the covers are with a slip case, so I'm quite confused what version is right. In the attatched scan you can see the difference at the bottom of the cover, the top cover is my version and the bottom one is the profiled one. Looks the same, but wait a minute... The bottom of my cover reads: Includes - Apocalypse Now - Apocalypse Now Redux, and the profiled one reads: Includes - The 1979 Cut - Apocalypse Now Redux.

Can you believe that I'm confused  , First the add date in July, releasedate set to October, and different reading at the bottom of the covers. So which one is the right one? Was it released on Blu-ray in July or October? And does it have a slip cover or not?

Mine is the top one, bottom profiled.

Hmmm. I see that it also reads 2-Film Set, could the profiled version be a combopack with two different movies that they sell at hdmoviesource?

My initial thought is the July entry was a pre-release entry, using pre-release artwork.  According to DVDEmpire, this was only released in October, not July.  They also show the existing artwork, not the one you have, so either they never updated the artwork with the final version or there may be 2 different covers out there

The cover on Axel Music shows "my" cover, but at the homepage at HD Movie SOurce they show the 1979 version cover with the printing 2-film set on all 3 versions. That might be they use the same scan on the doublepacks they sell? However the version I got from them shows two discs sticking out from the cover, but with the 2-film set and 1979 version on the cover. So I'm not sure what to profile here, is my cover the correct one or wrong one? Is it slip or not? hmmmm

Lionsgate has you pic in their shop for this BluRay:

If I'd be you I'd try to contribute the cover. If someone owns the other version you'll see it in the vote or in a pm.

Yes I will try that, also the back cover in profiler was changed October 19th, but the cover was scanned without the slip, and it was scanned with the BD case with bad quality and cropping.

Please tell me this isn't set up like the dvd set, where you have to switch discs to watch either version of the film.
Is each cut on it's own disc this time? I like the proper ratios have been restored, but no review I can find mentions this one way or the other. I'd like to think it was done right this time, hope it is.

Bot 1979 and Redux is on the same disc. In the menu you have the choise to select which version you want to watch. All the extras is on a seperate disc

Good enough, and good-bye dossier dvd set.
Deciding if I want to wait and try and get the 3 disc BD for cheap later.
Any reviews for Hearts of Darkness BD? I have a dvd dub of that already, so I need to know if it's massive upgrade in quality from the dvd. If not, the 2 disc is fine by me and cheap in stores now. The review I saw yesterday didn't mention anything about A/V quality, just how great a doc it was.
