Well, I just bought the box with 3 DVD's (4-020974-162043) and got the profiles. No cast, no crew! Okay, I checked the DVD's - and all credits are japanese so I can't read it (and it seems that nobody else could it yet)

So I just wrote a mail to Anilos (the distribution company) if they could help me with the requested data. As like I said I don't understand japanese, I will never know if the data I might get is correct or not

Would it be welcome to fill the profiles with data from an uncommon source?

This is an interesting question.  I know an official website is allowed, when there are no credits, but I am not sure about this one.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.

I would say strictly by the rules as they are written they couldn't be contributed. I think it would be another area Ken would have to say it is an exception to let it in the database.

I would vote yes with no qualms whatsoever if the distribution company provided the info.

A user who speaks and reads Japanese could read them and enter them. To suggest it "can't be contirbuted" can be interpreted as racist IMHO.

I disagree; a user who speaks and reads Japanese could read them but how they then translate them to a Western alphabet (since the programme cannot take any other form) would be open to interretation.

And that is not what this thread is talking about is it... it is about someone that can't read it and getting the info from some place (any place) other then the DVD.

Ken made an exception for when there is no credits. Never (that I have ever seen) made one for credits in a different language that you can't read (as in this particular case). If you can read it you can put what you read off the credits in. But taking it from anywhere but on the disc (per rules) is not allowed unless Ken wants to make an exception in a case such as this.

We are allowed to take data from the same film(s) in the invelos database. You might want to see if that data is available and then copy and paste it for your profiles.

You can then contribute your data but be sure and document the DVDs UPC or EAN numbers you got the information from.

Well, I got the information from the company - but so I won't contribute it. I don't know if we have any German here who speaks japanese or has japanese roots.

I asked this to be sure to do nothing wrong - Well, for sure I could lie, contribute and say "as credited" as nobody could prove... but as it is not the right way I won't do that.

I was wondering how less popular this also called "Japan Horror Anthology" is - I searched several movie-databases in the web and also Google doesn't find much about. So I am happy to have this data at least for myself

If anyone wants the data without being contributed: Around christmas I will do an update at my own homepage and everyone who wants the data is welcome to pick it up from there

Oh yes: There is also a Swiss-Version of the box - But also an empty profile. None found with original title (altough I can't imagine that it has an english title in Japan).

So if anyone knows the UPC of a japanese Version of this box, help is also very welcome - maybe the japanese version includes more data than the one I got from the company

After I read your reply, I decided that you had made your point, so didn't want to add fuel to the fire for what might have been a simple misunderstanding.  I still, however, maintain that you are one of the nicest people on this forum and would never make a racist statement.

I should have let that portion of my post stand.

I would submit it anyway with where the data came from in the notes. The screeners have final say, and they may accept it. Win/win for everyone.
