Hello.

I have an update to a Profile that I want to Contribute.  However, as part of this I’m not clear as to whether the Edition should remain as “Limited” (as its Profile indicates at present) or I should remove this.

The Limited designation appears based on the cover art, which amazon.co.uk indicates is a “Limited Edition sleeve design (Exclusive to Amazon.co.uk)”.  However, the cover art itself doesn’t say anything about this anywhere on it.  The cover art is just contained in a basic keep case, with no slip cover or anything.  There’s no suggestion that the DVD content is any different.

It’s not unusual for some sellers to have exclusive packaging to go with some of the DVDs they sell, so what’s the general view on how to treat these sorts of things?

Thanks.
Do you ever find yourself striving for perfection with an almost worthless attempt at it?  Guttermouth "Lemon Water".  Also, I include in my Profiler database VHS tapes, audio DVDs, audio books (digital, cassette and CD), video games (digital, DVD and CD) and 'enhanced' CDs with video tracks on them, as well as films and TV I've bought digitally.  So I'm an anarchist, deal with it.  Just be thankful I don't include most of my records and CDs etc in it too; don't think I haven't been tempted...

If Limited Edition isn't listed anywhere on the cover, than it shouldn't be in the edition field.

It would help if you list the UPC for these types of questions, so we could actually take a look at the profile in question.

Since Limited Edition is one of the standard editions, I'd say it's okay to use it even if it's not actually printed on the cover, since it serves the main purpose of this field. But for this to work, the EAN on the cover needs to be unique for this release and different from the standard edition.

Hello.

No problem.  The EAN is 5050582296938, Shaun of the Dead.

I've had a look and I can't see another edition in the database using the same number, or a different number but with the same sleeve.

Interestingly, there's another Shaun of the Dead in the database with the Edition “HMV Exclusive” which appears to have its own unique sleeve and EAN number, so this would seem to perhaps be in an identical position.
