I'm still getting a handle on this - I'm sorry if this has been raised before but I can not find it.

2001: A Space Odyssey does not have any roles assigned to its Cast. But, roles were found from outside sources and accepted into the database.

Should these actors, who are grouped together in the credits but without roles, be given a Group divider "Apes"?

O did locally,Kathy and I think it would be rational for the Online. It's definitely an oddball. Using dividers establishes Profiler data in its own right and breaks wityh other sources .

If i don't see headers in the film credits i don't add headers.

The outside source credits may come from several sources, all more difficult to validate than those on screen.  Adding headers to the profile based on outside source implies a level of certainty and intent that doesn't exist.

I don't have this movie to say... but basically if there isn't a divider or group role (obviously since you said no roles) in the actual credits then I wouldn't add them.

I personally wouldn't add them for the reasons already given. The only time I would is if the details came from the official film website.

Since I've seen different mixed credits for this, such as "Head Ape", I wouldn't add artificial headers.

Maybe it's finally a valid use for the dreaded "empty" divider?

There is no provision, in the rules, for adding dividers that are not in the credits.  If they aren't there, we don't create them.

I would not be adverse to the adding of group dividers, but if you are going strictly by the rules, then I agree with this...

However, Jimmy does have a good idea with:

Perhaps this is something that can be discussed in the rules forum as an addition to the current guidelines?

I had not entered group dividers because there were no roles listed.

The guidelines specifically mention roles: "Use Group dividers to designate cast grouped in the credits such as "Soldiers" or "Additional Cast".", but I wanted to be sure.

Thanks for the help.

I never noticed that before, Kathy. I must have cut the film off as soon as it was over.

I say forget about dividers and remove the credits altogether since adding the credits to Profiler makes them not match the film credits

I'm happy you brought it up regardless, as it leads to the question should something be done in a movie such as this (one without roles). I think it's a good idea that the guidelines should definitely be updated to reflect these types of scenarios as it would be helpful info to have.

Since you find this so funny, you must believe that the rules allow for creating data, other than roles, that don't exist in the credits.  Please provide the rule that allows it so that we can all see it.  I have read this rule, several times, and it isn't there.

Sorry Skip, I deal with this kind of stuff at work, I am not going to deal with it here.  If you have an answer provide it.  If not, well...I won't play.
