Hi

I own the first Dutch Region 2 edition of 'Abeltje' (Warner, EAN 7321931927673). This edition is a snapper case with a flipper disk inside. One side of the disk contains the fullscreen edition, the other side the widescreen edition. This is marked on the back of the box, displaying the two different aspect ratio's.

A few years later Warner replaced this edition with a single-sided fullscreen edition in a keepcase, but retailed under the same EAN code.

Since DVD profiler doesn't allow me to enter DVD's with the same EAN code and same locality, I was wondering how to differentiate between those two very distinct editions?

For now I have locks on the box type and aspect ratio's to keep those from being changed, but I'm quite certain there must be other titles that received the same treatment by Warner.

Can anybody help me out here?

Thanks.

Hi,

You can add one version by Disc-ID. Download the profile & go to - DVD ---> Change EAN & then check the box to use the ID from the disc.

Once you've got that, you can then re-download the EAN based profile.

BTW - The single sided version was also released in a snapper case as that's the version I have & the version in the DB.

Okay, thanks! I got it now.

I did some research in the contribution rules. Since the database stores discs by Disc-ID, I should be able to enter the Disc-ID info for both sides in the Disc info field, then contribute it as a new profile under the same EAN code.

EDIT: but this takes me to the discussion of the existing profile. So, that doesn't work.

Since the Disc-ID's of both sides are different than the Disc-ID of the EAN profile, should I then make two new profiles by Disc-ID and use the EAN profile as a box set profile?

You can update the existing profile. Since the original release is double sided and FF + WS, this is the info that should be in the online database.

Also update the DISC ID, you can add a disc id to both sides, and include in the description which side is full, and which is widescreen.

In your contribution notes, clearly specify you have the original release, and that the re-release is single sided only.

You then no longer need to lock certain parts, as the online and your local will be the same.

Looking at the back of my single sided copy, I think they were released together. The release date in the DB is for 2000 which is the same as cover I have. In which case, the existing info needs to stay.

My copy says 1999 instead of 2000. So, I guess the profile should be changed.

That would indeed be the case. Any information relating to the 2000 release will need to be replaced with the 99 version.
