I was looking at the contribution submitted by jmbox for Dune (1984) UPC 025192-124228,  and these two roles are questionable. Would Creative Make-up & Mechanical Special Effects be allowed by the rules?

If that is indeed a single credit, such as...

"John Doe ---- Creative Make-up & Mechanical Special Effects"

... I would include John Doe in both "make-up" and "visual effects". To me the words "creative" and "mechanical" here are just additional descriptions to credits that are allowed. Creative make-up is still make-up, and mechanical special effects are still special effects.

IMHO.

No these are two seperate credits:

Creative Make-up: Giannetto de Rossi
Mechanical Special Effects: Kit West

I think if I saw those in a film's credits - especially one like Dune - I'd include them in the profile.

Ok, thanks. I'd still add them (don't really know what I meant with the first sentence in my previous posting... doesn't make any difference if it is a single credit or two separate ones    )

Kit West, especially, was the one of the top VFX guys on the film. He's credited as Mechanical to differentiate him from the Photographic guys

Orici:

I would absolutely not include them since they are not included in the accepted Crew data at this time, to do otherwise is simply ignoring the rules. Should Mechanical Special Effects be included, I would think so based on Special Photographic Effects. How about Creative Make-up...I don't know...I don't know what that means. But i would not Contribute such data until the Rules were updated to allow it.
ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!!
