The Joel Silver (prolific producer) birth year is accepted by invelos system (no check box).
Looking for other people named Joel Silver I've found other 5 people on IMDB, but no one of theese seems actually be present in database.
So is really needed the Joel Silver producer birth year?

I've found the same thing. As far as I can tell, there is indeed only one Joel Silver in the database. I'll be interested to see if VirusPil manages to find one.

If there really is one Joel Silver in the database, then no: in that case, he cannot have a birth year associated with him.

IMDB has 5 Joel Silvers:
http://www.imdb.com/find?s=nm&q=Joel+Silver
Credits break down as:
One actor
Two crew
Two 'special thanks to'

With that in mind, wouldn't it be more prudent to keep the BY in the DB? Those other Joel Silvers might turn up in our DB eventually. Just a thought ...

It's a nice thought, but the rules don't allow for "being prudent". Either there are two people named Joel Silver in the database, or there aren't. Additionally, as you say, two of them are "special thanks to" - not something we're ever likely to track. A third is a lighting technician - again, not something we're ever likely to track, and the fourth is an actor in a children's short film, which doesn't seem likely to hit DVD anytime soon. We're not even sure there really is a "Joel Silver" in there, as we've only got IMDb as a source. It may just as well be a typo, and be "Joey Silver" instead, or something like that. We won't know for sure until it ever hits DVD - if it ever does. With three different guys we're probably never gonna credit anyway, and a fourth on which we have no data whatsoever except one single IMDb-listing - but none of us have actually ever seen that credit, I really don't see any reason to be "prudent" and allow the birth year in regardless. By the same token, we may as well add birth years to EVERYONE...

Couldn't have said it better

It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

There's just the possibility of these two as second:
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1495997/
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2988593/

If someone could check if "My Gift" or "Doctor's without Borders" are in database the question is answered very fast.

I've already searched in database by title and they aren't. However "My Gift" or "Doctor's without Borders" are corto, so it is possible that they are published in some compilation with another title, or maybe They are contributed without original title.

Case closed, then: since there's only one Joel Silver in the database, he cannot have a birth year associated with him.

Thanks for checking.  Did also a look through and found nothing. Seems I must have confused him with someone different. (Note to me: Don't be too fast with writing at working break  )

The problem I see at our treatment of unneeded accepted Birth Years: Until Invelos don't delete them from their accepted list, there will always be some profiles with and without the Birth Year.

That's why I would leave them in in all. (Even if I don't do now) All that's accepted and doesn't pop up the checkbox, should be in. Reason: More User-friendly, no mixing of BY and not BY profiles, ...
