I have my video equipment hooked up through an "Audio/Video Control Center".

All of a sudden recently the audio will drop out and if I tap the equipment the audio kicks back in. I've checked the wires and they are all in tight and snug and the wires themselves are fine.

Sometimes I have to wiggle the wires a few times to get the audio back.

Any help what's causing this?

It is not uncommon for wires to break inside the casing, especially where a lot of flexing has occurred. This can happen even when the connector is firmly seated.Suggestions:

(1) If you can isolate which cable(s) cause the problem, obviously the solution is to replace the offending cable(s).

(2) On the other hand, if you have the option of using optical or coax instead of analog audio cables, you can solve the problem and also benefit from better sound.

If, after careful experimentation, swapping cables, etc., the problem persists, you may have a very rare instance of an intermittent connection inside the AV unit. Have your best electronics  geek friend check it out, or you can get it professionally repaired.
