I have a question on run times.  I'm auditing a box set tv show that includes the complete show (the Kids in the Hall megaset).

Mainly, I'm concerned with bonus discs. This has separate disc for bonus materials, so it does get profiled. This does include running time, right?  How do you chose the running time?  The disc has many features...do I time all of them and add them together?  The back of the case for the disc, does have an approximate running time, so should I base it off of that (find the feature that is about that time and use it for the exact time?)

My second question is based off of if I DO use the running time: Do I add this running time into the season run time?  Ex: season 1 has a bonus disc with a running time of 120 mins. I add this time to the other 3 discs or do I let it stand on it's own? I noticed that the Indiana Jones box set has a running time for the bonus disc, but it is NOT added to the whole box set running time...is this the way to do it?

Then, of course, does this time add into the whole megaset run time?

Thanks for the help!

Personally I would use the approx. running time for the bonus disc profile, but would not add it to the parent profile running time.
If you have the time to add up all the individual features, obviously that would be more accurate, but off the cover is more than enough for contribution.

That's what is there right now, but in auditing the first 3 discs, there is several minute differences between the approx time and the actual time...

I personally only do run times of the episodes and not any of the bonus material.

Even with it being its own disc? If it was on the disc with the episodes, I wouldn't even blink...don't use the time, but since it's on its own disc...that's where my question comes in.

In this case I think runtime would be okay (maybe keep local, not positive how others may view it), but don't add it in to the overall runtime for the series set, we only count the runtime of the movie or tv show itself, not the whole disc contents added up.

Yes even when they are on their own disc I do not include the run time of extras.

Thanks for the replies, everyone. It looks like the consenses is not to include it in the season run time, so I won't.

I thought there was something in the rules anyway that we do not include bonus features runtimes in the parent set. Either way I agree with the rest of you and do not include it in the main set.

Quoting the rules:
Quote:
Use the combined running time of all the films in the Box Set; do not include running time of any extra features.

That is, for the record, from the Box Sets page, which is primarily about sets with multiple movies, but it's not exactly a stretch to assume this goes for TV sets as well.

Thanks for pointing that out in the rules...I did go looking for it, but obviously missed that.  I think I was more looking at the part focussed on running times rather than in the box set section.
