I'm sure this has been covered before, but I couldn't find anything with a search...

Should we add the DVD's Disc ID to the main Blu-ray profile for Combo releases, or should the DVD's Disc ID belong "exclusively" in it's seperate child profile. Currently the rules (bold is me) state this:

Quote:
Sets containing the same film on multiple media types (such as a Blu-ray/DVD combo pack) are to be entered as a normal profile for the main media type (Blu-ray in this example), with all included media types checked. A combo which includes HD media (HD-DVD, Blu-ray) as well as DVD should use the details from the HD media in the main profile. However, you may add an additional profile by Disc ID for the DVD content and add this profile to the Box Set contents for the Blu-ray profile.

But I do see a lot of people adding the seperate DVD's Disc ID in the main profile also, so I'd like to hear some opinions on the above rule.

Usually the Blue ray is either a double disc(s)  or a 'flipper' disc and each disc (side) woudl have its own disc ID area that area depending on content should have that disc ID. Also The Blu Rau would be side 1 and the standard side would be side 2..
In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. Now the World is weird and People take Prozac to make it Normal.

I'm asking about Combo releases though, with a Blu-ray and DVD, and not sides of discs.

I have yet to actually see a flipper disc with a "Blu-ray" on one side and a "DVD" on the other side.

The bolded phrase indicates the child profile is optional so i would definitely add the DVD Disc ID to the main profile.  Given that it is not mandatory to create a child you need to add it to the "main" profile.

Many people don't like the child profiles and don't want them and prefer a single profile.

I personally take the child profile and remove the duplicate ID from the parent.
Bad movie?  You're soaking in it!

This is allowed by the Bonus feature film rule. The Bonus DVD is also added as a child to the main profile this allows those who want it and those that don't to either remove it or simply just don't download it with the main profile.

The main profile would still include all discs IDs in the Disc Info section.

You're going to see them more, but mainly from Universal. Thus far Traffic, Out of Africa and The Jackal are flipper discs and The Ghost Writer will be as well.
