I know we have been around the block on this many times and I know the current position is; if they are not mentioned in the contribution notes and they are an exact lift or as near as dammit to a third party then you MAY remove them. I vote according to this as I know I must, sometimes, with a note in my yes vote that I have checked and they are actually in the movie.

My question is what do most people do when they come across uncredited that they could remove in accordance with the rules?

For me if I have suspicions on uncredited I do my best to find out if they are in the movie by watching it and doing a bit of research,  What this shows me is the vast majority of uncredited in the database should definitely be there. Older studio titles had lots of people uncredited and contribution notes on older titles would not have needed any reference to to a source, that's why I make a distinction in the poll.

If they don't look like an exact clone of the one that must not be mentioned, I usually just leave them alone. There are things that should always be deleted though, such as (archive footage) and (deleted scenes) that we don't credit. Except when cloning profiles, then I remove everyone that I can't personally verify, which is what is demanded for new contributions.

Same here, if they look like a clone I remove em, if not, I leave em be, it is just too much work for me to rewatch the film and verify this

I'm with Donnie.  If it looks like a clone I remove them.  As KinoNiki pointed out, something saying 'archive footage' or 'deleted scenes' is a sure giveaway.  Another is a list where you get some version of uncredited that is cut off at the end of a role rather than the checkbox being checked.

But if it doesn't look like a clone, I leave them alone.  There are precious few actors I can recognize by face to say they are there, so I don't try to verify them.

For the online I leave them alone since they do no harm, locally I remove all without a role name or something like "Bit" as role name because I am fairly sure they are not verified by anybody.

They can affect the CLT results.

Shouldn't. Since they are by definition uncredited they can't have any impact on the "credited as" list.

Apologies. I'm sure I'd seen them listed before but just checked one and it didn't show.

Thanks for the correction!

I seldom update the cast listings of other peoples contributions so I answered "Other".

I mostly only add titles, and then only those that are not very popular. There are enough people willing to add the blockbusters. If I come across something that I know must be incorrect I may update a profile, but seldom cast that seems complete.

I really don't care about "uncredited" that much any more.
I  only use this feature for "Guest appearances" of more renowned actors and remove all entries that are only in my database because they have an uncredited appearance in a movie.

I'm doing so for my local only, of course.
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

Try to verify first, then check imdb, although I've been leaving clones unless they don't have any kind of role description. If no role here and no role on imdb, then no role at all most of the time.

I like this approach, sounds good to me.

It's always a toss up for me. Most of the time I leave uncredited alone and just deleted them from my local (if they're not particularly well known to me) and lock the cast list. If the uncredited cast is a clusterf**k and an obvious rip-off of IMDB that includes things like archived and deleted scenes and whatnot, I'll delete them.

I always always always leave in my contribution notes the reason I'm removing them though, and I also make a note asking if anyone can verify any of them, and if they can, that I'd be happy to add them back in.

I probably should've voted for other, but voted for remove them if at all possible.
The night is calling. And it whispers to me soflty come and play.
