Well, actually I am more than angry! My contact with the support didn't reach any acceptable solution for the problem and so I have to open this topic how we could handle this:

I try to submit links as much as possible to enlarge the database. But so many times during the last days it happened, that a profile which I got from the database a couple of years ago suddenly is never more part of.

Sometimes the contributions are declined as I don't know the sources which the original uploader used! And that makes me sick and tired as I can't check 20 profiles a day if they are correct!

Did anyone have the same problem? What's the handling for this?

And as I truely commented for some contributions that I don't know any of the source (I downloaded them from the DVD-Profiler-Database several months or years ago), they were declined - and I would have to check each and every information for an unknown number of movies.

For being true now I am never more allowed to contribute ANY profile and for me it feels as my work is never welcome anymore!

Hmm, never seen. I'm interested if someone different has an idea.

Perhaps you could give some examples. (UPC)

Hmm, some profiles got deleted because of different reasons. But had to be a fortuity if it get so a big amount.

I am not really sure I am understand what you are saying. But it sounds like to me that you have profiles that are not in the online database for whatever reason. You are trying to contribute them... but getting declined because of not giving any sources. You don't know what the sources that were used the first time around.

Now if I have this right... then I am not sure why you are complaining. Because you can't contribute without giving a source?

Well... everyone has to give sources for contributions now. It isn't like it is only you that has to do this. If you want to contribute to the main database you have to source the contribution.

Are you just adding these profiles without checking them first? That is one thing I wouldn't recommend doing. Make sure the info is right. We do have a new set of rules now. Every profile must be per these rules.

I do understand it is a lot of work to check over the profiles and give your sources for the contribution. But it is the only way to get the info into the online database now. For any one of us. I would suggest to take your time... do one at a time and make sure it is right. If you make sure all the profiles are right... and give the sources that you used to do so in your notes... you shouldn't have much of a problem.

Well, I asked the support if there is any backup of the database in the past. As I got those profiles from the database I don't know the sources (but I think in any old backup they must be)

But what I can't accept is that I am never more allowed to contribute ANYTHING! I've countributed about 20 profiles, ten of them with hard work and WITH sources - but because of trying to clarify that stuff with the support, all of them were declined - only because of me???

what was the reason for the declines? If you look at your list of contributions there should be at least a generic reason for the decline. Did you add cast and crew? if so where did the info come from?

The usual reason for a profile being removed from the database is an incorrect locality (e.g. Danish DVD entered with locality UK). There are other "incorrectable" errors that, when realized, may lead to a deletion of a profile: Incorrect Media Type and imaginary UPC/EAN are among them. So before asking: Where have they gone? you should probably ask: Why are they gone?

Go to one of the "missing" profiles in your local database and check for obvious errors.

Regarding your somewhat unlucky contribution record: It might be of help for us, if you would let us know the UPC/EAN of a pending contribution, so we could check and give you hints.
Preferably I'd like to see that you recontribute one of your already declined submissions and publish the UPC here.
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

I remember in the transition from Intervocative to Invelos there were a number contributions were lost, which I was able to rectify at the time as I still had the old database connectred to the internet so I was able to get the link from the old site!
Cheers

It does seem odd that they were declined. I checked a few at random and they all seem genuine releases.

The only thing I can suggest is maybe reduce the amount of data you're submitting to start with.
To make sure you don't lose any info, save a profile file first, then remove the bulk of the info from the profile -especially cast and crew, as they are the most common reasons for declines. Try and keep it to the minimum. Then submit that, and hopefully that will be accepted. Things to keep an eye on are make sure the locality is correct, the barcode on the cover scan matches the one on the profile, and the RRP currency matches the locality.
Once it's submitted you can restore your original profile and get all that data back, and as long as that first submission was accepted you can now pick and choose what data to submit.

It might also help some if you copy and paste what you put in your contribution notes. It could be what you are putting in your notes that is causing the problem.

Checked on Quicksilver Highway (4-006680-043432) where your update is still pending.
The problems (and probable reasons for a decline) I found:
Unlikely AudioFormat and undocumented removal of Audio Channels
Undocumented change of SRP
Cast seems to be a carbon-copy of IMDb (unusual sorting main cast first and by alpha after Clive Barker, which is identical to sorting on IMDb), but since I don't own the DVD I might be wrong here.
Crew seems to be a carbon-copy of IMDb data too (unusual sorting of producers, identical to sorting on IMDb)
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

Regarding the unknown number.
There may be a way to find out:
A short scan of your online collection showed several profiles with incorrect SRP currencies (Region 2 and US$ doesn't fit). It's highly likely that you find the removed profiles among those. Anyhow those should be checked for further errors.

For finding profiles that have errors Mark Harrison's plug-in "Database Query" is very useful.

EDIT:
Regarding the "20 profiles a day":
You don't have to do that many.
I'd always prefer 1 correct profile a week to 20 incorrect a day.
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?
