In the contribution rules, it states:

Country of Origin (COO)
Enter the country in which the main feature's primary production company is based.

There are good few titles in my collection that have no CoO noted, presumably because they were co-produced in multiple countries, or by multiple international companies.

So how can I determine which is the "primary" production company?
Do we make the assumption that the company who's logo comes up first in the credits is the primary company? Or are there any reccommended websites that state which is the primary company?

I suppose certain titles will just be classed as joint productions, and so no single CoO can be entered.

Also, with regard to boxsets, say there were 6 films in a box, and 5 were from the US, and one from the UK (as is the case with the Alfred Hitchcock Signature Collection), would you say the boxset's CoO is ruled by the majority, so USA, or must it remain blank?

Ta!

A lot of people leave the CoO of co-productions blank simply because it is hard to decide who the primary production company is.
What I tend to look for is a credit which reads "A xxxx Production(s)". If more than one company is mentioned I go for the top one. If more than one company is listed but only one also has a logo, I go for that one.

I've been lucky in that especially for European productions I've found right at the very end of the end credits a credit which reads like "A German-Anglo-French co-production" which helps sometimes.

For boxsets I would leave them blank even if all the films are produced in the same country.

In your example the countries are just sorted alphabetically. For me something like that (even if not in alphabetical order) is a clear indication that it's a co-production and therefore I would leave the CoO field blank. Or do I misunderstand you here?

Other than that I agree with you.

Actually I was just trying to think of countries at random!  But you're right, if it's an obvious co-production I tend to leave them blank. But others don't, and don't have to, I was just sharing the info as to where this info could be found. I'll edit my example so they are no longer alphabetical.
