Of course, ,this icon in the movie business has set major standards that we all take for granted these days.. Yet I don't see his name attached to CE3K. He is billed as Special Photographic Effects .. I also see his name is not attached to 2001 Space Odyssey..  I only have him in Star Trek (1978) movie..
Can this name ( amongst many others)  now be built into the Crew section?? and under what title??

What is his Credit. Terry, just follow the Rules, if he is credited in a way that we track, then yes if not the NO!. Who it is has no relevance. That's not hard to understand. how in god's name would you right a Rule based WHO it is. Somebody might not know who or even care who he is, thus to them on that basiss the data would be irrelevant. So just follow the Rules, terry.

If he is not trackable in 2001, and BTW he is not, as it is right now. You can always do so locally by using Other and Custom Role.

Now if we had some form of Open credits then we wouldn't be worried about whether or not we can track Doug Trumbull, Ray Harryhausen, Maurice Binder and so many others, but the users with so much wisdom don't want Open credits...in fact some of them want even less.

I realize all of this and have him listed as Other., which of course doesn't show up in the data..
BUT if everyone is so concerned about (i.e) Clint Eastwood being listed as an uncredited in Creature from  Black Lagoon,,, I for one would like to see Douglas Trumbull either now or in the future listed as well - for Special Photographic Effects., Meaning that the Credit Fields should be more broaden ..

Teery:

You know I agree with with respect to some form of Open Credts, but it is what it is and bringing Clint Eastwood into this has no relevance since we can't track any Crew Online aother than what the Rules provide for, and (uncredited) has no relevance to this discussion.Limke I said there are lot of legends in film that we don't track either at all or only partially and the only way to at least partially correct this is through some form of Open Credits and to correct it completely then we would have to be able to have completely Open Credits. We don't track NAMES. We track the Crew that we are allowed to track.

While I agree with you I just have to copy and paste what you wrote earlier today:
<<What harm is done to anyone by having the complete credit. Too many keystrokes?        I see more complete and clarifyimng data with the complete credit, and I can see absolutely no harm caused to you by including it even thought you don't want it. I see valuable information being taken away and the data being not as clear as it should be. So descriobe to me the harm that is done if you can.

Why should this not apply to other cast/Crew data, I know who Lucille is, why do we need to list Lucille Ball...because that's the way she is credited. I know Anthony Hopkins played Hannibal, why do we need Lecter....because that's what the Credit says, but what additional information is provided by adding Lecter. George directed Star wars and we all know who George is, what does Lucas add.  It's what the Credit says, Martian, there is no distinction because it is a Company, it IS the Credit and those Credits provide information. >>>

seems like this argument could apply to to me..

As of the April 14th rules update Special Photographic Effects is a valid Visual Effects credit.

My addition of him to the US locality Blu-ray for CE3K was approved just 3 days ago.

It would if you understood it, Terry, since it was tongue in cheek and you took it out of the context it was set in. It was written in answer to a specific issue, that is not really germaine to anything here,We don't track personalities we track the credits of a film and what they did. Frankly, this such an obvious answer that i am puzzled why you asked, unless you were trying to make some sort of a point relative to Doug Trumbull and would the question be the same if, instead of 2001, which made his name, you had found a credit for some movie with Doug Trumbull Set Decorator, I don't think you would have asked the question in that case, or if you had found Doug Trumbull Key Grip. I think you are trying to make a very narrow point.

Missed mention of that film above.  He is credited there as Special Photographic Effects Supervisor so yes, that is also valid per the Rules.

Widescreenforever, obviously the topic inspired you to review the credits for CE3K but what you are changing is phenomenally wrong.

You've added Cinematographers, one of whom is credited for "additional" work.

You've changed multiple names from as credits (or credited as) to the wrong name form (not the credited one):  Cantemesa, Knudson, Lomino, Alves

Dropped a valid make-up credit

Changed Truffaut to a form not credited

And there are NO group credits in the cast, every person is individually credited and should be shown that way.

And added unexplained Uncredited.

Bad movie?  You're soaking in it!

This title is such a mess (CE3K) I've pulled most for the time being..
I'll have to recheck that Cantemesa, Knudson, Lomino, Alves never added them only carried them over/ Truffaut has the french accent on the name, but not in the credits/ group credits are in credits as one title to multiple names/ Never added makeup and uncredited is in already  I tried to pull uncrtedited before for other titles and get slammed for removing good data.. but I have no idea where the data came from??
